...with that little 19 oz Charter .44, shooting that 5.0 Unique load was like shooting a full house magnum out of a snub M19...too little gun, too much bullet...outa a real gun like Mac was shooting, a pussycat...

True. Shooting a half ounce slug out of a 19 ounce revolver is just nasty.

I think 6.0 grains was the lightest I went with Unique (using softer bullets) but I went a bit lighter using WW 231 and Bullseye. I never found a load that didn't hurt some in the Bulldog but I was young and foolish and it sure did show some authority. I imagine the full power .357s from an airweight must be as bad but I have no plan to try it out.
