Pop up tgt report

I bought this pop up steel tgt and made a comment somewhere else on the forum.
Rated for .32-.44 cartridges.
Today I shot it with some .327 and you can see it is not real durable.
The most damage was done with 100 gr PSP the other shot was with a gold dot 115 gr HP and a lot less damage. If you look close you can see the lead marks from .22lr.
I think it would be ok with .22lr and probably .32 S&W long, but, nothing with any serious pwr.
The steel is actually bent as well.

Your 327 is a magnum and will damage mild steel targets like a 357 mag . You got the wrong target for your gun ..................

I would guess if you loaded down some 32 loads with cast wheel weight it might work ok. Looks like you don't want a lot of zip or a hard bullet and definitely not both. I not a metalurgist but I wonder if you could get another harder piece of steel that might hold up better and replace that one???

Not worth the trouble with the tools I have and the spring involved, it will be used for .22lr and be good to go.

Bummer. We have a one inch steel gong at our range and it needs to be replaced every few months. Everyday it must get hit a few hundred times with anything from a 22 to a 300 Win Mag.

That steel is too soft. I have gongs made of 3/8" AR500 steel that have taken thousands of rounds and they hardly have a scratch on them.

Its free! Don't know how hard it is but it gets a lot of armour piercing ammo thrown at it.

Sportsmansguide sent me a recall label after I answered their questionnaire on the purchase.
I turned it down since it will work fine with a .22lr.
