IDPA range and shoot.......

ran across this.........this feller had some sort of hat cam while he shot some stages. Looks interesting especially those activating targets!!!
the dark room shoot was interesting as well.........

Anyways, it kind of put you "right there" in the course.

Re: IDPA range and shoot.......

That's a lot of spent ammo! I couldn't tell what he was shooting at or hitting in the dark room. He said he got a (penalty?) I wonder what it was for?

Re: IDPA range and shoot.......

don't know but he caught a procedural.......perhaps wrong target....perhaps fail to engage........

this idpa looks a heck of a lot more my speed than the uspsa match that i shot..............which was a lot more shooting on more stages. But uspsa did not stress tactics/cover.......it was literally a race for race guns.

It looks like something I'd like to try just once. I'd probably embarrass myself big time.

Re: IDPA range and shoot.......

while USPSA was not my cup of tea.....i did have fun........but not enogh to justify trying to be a games-man in that sport. I'll shoot it again most likely just for the heck of it and as a way to force myself to push a tad harder.

IDPA looks a bit more practical course/equipment wise than USPSA and less race oriented.

it might come down to ford vs chevy.....but what the heck, i ain't buying......just test-driving.

nothing like a little competition to hone the skills and push ya.

I wouldn't have to embarrass myself, I'm sure the other shooters would do that for me.

+1 ..........You suppose to have fun with that type of match ..... Beats the hell of shooting a 100 rounds at target set at 7, 10 or 25 yds all day and you never know , you could learn something at a match like that ... .....

Re: IDPA range and shoot.......

I have a buddy who shoots IDPA. I have been wanting to go, but the matches are over an hour away and on Saturdays, which is a work day for me. Maybe someday I will make it happen. I like the fact that there is a revolver class, so that my GP100 and I can play.

i have'nt shot/witnessed an idpa match yet...........though there is one near me at an indoor range????????or at least that's what i've been told. just a 50 mile trip. might check into it sometime.

i've read that idpa revolver division is really equipment friendly for the avg person and that there is revolver interest in idpa........did not see a single revolver at my uspsa match though i'm sure there are a few competitors out there with moon guns who will push the envelope.........

guess that is another advantage.......at my match them boys were looking high and low for their brass especially them 38 super shooters.......a revolver guy may not be so competitive, but at least he don't have to hunt as hard for his brass........
