Well I took it out and put 50 rounds thru it. I wasn't able to get further than 27 yards. It's thick out there at this time of year. The magazine was a pain. It didn't want to go in or come out of the gun at first. Getting the first few rounds into the chamber was a pain too. As I shot it, things loosened up and it worked better. Needs to be broken in a bit is all. I shot off a downed tree. The bi-pod was on the tree and the stock was floating and held on my shoulder. Not a very stable shooting platform at all. I really wish I had a place to shoot where I could sit at a bench and shoot this thing. I think it has a lot of potential. I read on one of the Savage boards that these guns will settle down and group better after 300 or so rounds. I don't know if it's true, but I'll find out. The gun started out shooting fairly tight, and then opened up a bit after about 15-20 rounds. I was shooting in 5 shot groups. Then it closed up a bit by time I got to the end of my shooting. I'm enclosing a pic of the target I shot last. It's the last 10 rounds I fired. I know that with a better shooting position this group would easily be cut in half. Especially at 27 yards. I would expect this gun to shoot this group at 100 yards from a bench. I'm also unfamiliar with the gun, so that didn't help. The trigger isn't bad, but I'm going to see if I can get it down another lb. I'll have to look at the owner's manual. Well this is the target. 8 shots were into a .630" group with the last 2 shots opening it up to1.3". I think the 2 were my fault and not the gun's. Like I said, I need to get a little more familiar with the gun and trigger. It's a fun little gun, and I have no regrets about the purchase. One last note: The $65 Bushnell from Wal-Mart, does nothing good for this gun. I beleive 100% that with better glass this thing will be a winner. |

That's what I'm hoping. I still wish I had access to a bench and a few more yards. I'll have to practice by wacking small animals. |

Sheepdog it was CCI. I have a few hundred rounds left. Danny, I'm hoping it will. I think it and I will get better. I also set the trigger at 2.5 pounds tonight and that's what I'll shoot it at next time out. Today was about 3.5 pounds. Thanks, Tim. It can only get better I guess. |

Well those will work in a hunting situation no doubt. I'm just curious as to what the gun can really do. On a side note, we saw a 6 point buck. He stood less than 50 yards from us and just watched us watch him for about 7-8 minutes. Then I shood him away so we could shoot the gun. He's going to be a nice one come deer season. Looked to be a 3 year old. I'll have to put a scope on my shotgun. |

...what rounds would inherantly be any more accurate??? I know it's illegal, but a lot have deer have come home to the freezers with a .22LR in their head...I KNOW that WMR would get one...it was shotguns only in Pa. where I was a kid, too...thought it was stupid...other parts of the state rifle was OK...centerfire, of course...guesss it was because our area was more thickly populated with people...the shotgun was less penetrating...don't know for sure...

If I had a plce to put a bench like that, I'd get one, 44's. Dragging that into the woods where I shoot would kill me. Sheepdog, shotgun or hand gun only because of the population of the area. Lots of area around me are like that. Lots of good places to bow hunt though. Just can't seem to get them in range ever. |

No, Deadeye. 22 mags won't shoot 22 lr. The bullets are too short. That's why you have to change cyliners on the SA revolvers.
