Took my Mule Eared shotgun out today.

After working on this shotgun for over two weeks smoothing it up action wise and chamber wise I took it out today and ran some pretty good times on the shotgun. Starting at port arms I can load and fire the first shot in 2.42 second cock reload and fire the 4th shot in 6.42 seconds. This is much better than 8.62 seconds that I was doing. I really need to be under 5 seconds to run with the big boys. So I am going to the range again tomorrow and try to do better.

Well you can always come along and show use how to do it pal. Lets see your saying you can shoot from start to finsh 4 shots in half the time. That would make it 3.3 seconds, ok I want to see it!

Re: Took my Mule Eared shotgun out today.

Your right BH, took some time to learn about what to do to the shotgun having never done it before then learning the mistakes I was making and correcting them. All in all I don't think I had a bad day yesterday hoping for a better day today.

It take me 3.3 seconds to get the hammer back on those mule ears for the 1st 2 rounds . I don't think if I put 4 rounds in my 97 Winc pump I could beat 3.3 seconds and it slam fires .

Much better day and better times, since the first liar when TGR is around lets just say I was faster today. Of course I know in his day but not today mind you he was a bag of chips and soda too. But of course I am talking about real time meaning todays time table. Yester year was just that yester year.

Re: Took my Mule Eared shotgun out today.

Watching clips of CASs in action is indeed eye opening, Sheepdog. I was rather awed. It really does illustrate that it is the man that's a deadly weapon, not the tool. In their realm a shooter like Snuffy or Gunrunner would be a threat against any opponent with any weapon.

Re: Took my Mule Eared shotgun out today.

Thanks, everything is done by the numbers. Sometimes its first pistol shoot 5 rounds reholster shoot shotgun twice take shotgun with you make safe pick up rifle enguage 8 target no double taps ( 2 will be shot twice to make the 10 rounds but not back to back) pick up shotgun move to next door way enguage 2 targets make shotgun safe move to window and enguage 5 targets once each with second pistol. Most of us do this in less than a minute, the middle shooters like me do this in 30 to 35 seconds the intermedate shooters do this in22 to 29 seconds and the big boys do this in 19 seconds or less.
To place in your class you have to be able to pick up your shotgun from the table load it fire 2 shuck the hulls reload enguage the last 2 target knocking them down in 5 seconds or less. Best time today 5.21 I am gettin there. I was able to enguage ten pistol target in 8.31 second. Remember I only use one hand and have to cock the pistol with my shooting hand. I can pick my rifle and enguage 10 targets in 7.39 seconds Need some more work on that one needs to be under 6 seconds.
With all that I wear chaps vest shotgun belt felt hat leather wrist cuff, big knive spurs holsters I add another 31 pounds to my body. And I do this for fun I am not paid but pay to shoot. I am going to do it as long as I am able to do it. Then when I can't do it any more I am still going to be there cheering others on just because.

Re: Took my Mule Eared shotgun out today.

There are some real good shooters at these events. I watched a 12 year old girl shoot, and I'm pretty sure she'd take me out in a gun fight.
