My quickest range trip ever - short but fun!

Went to the range after work. I stopped off at home, got my 3 plastic jugs and filled them with water. Thought about just grabbing one box of ammo, but decided to grab the whole ammo can.

Drove the mile to the range, knowing that it would be a very quick trip. Just planning on putting 6 or 7 cylinders down range. After getting through the gate, parking and getting the jugs out of the car I realized that I had left the ammo can in the living room!

Well, shoot em if you got em boys. I put out the jugs. Stood 10 feet away and blasted them to smithereens with what I had loaded. Reloaded and left.

By the way, It is not a good idea to shoot a milk jug, a small soda bottle and a 2 liter soda bottle filled with water when you are only 10 feet away while using hollow points. I was soaking wet after the first shot. Made it short trip that much more fun and memorable though.

Back when I used to have to drive to a range, I once forgot my ear plugs. Now this aint a range where I could buy any plugs mind you. After one box of .38s my ears where a ringing and I had a head ache for days. Maybe why my ears have that ringing in them today! That was my quickest range trip.

...I make it a habit to keep a coupla handsful of rounds of any caliber I'm carryin' in the truck...in case I have to shoot my way home someday...at least a 50-round box of each would be a good thing...glad you got to go...could you call that a "baptism of fire?"...no, prolly just sprinkling...

Re: My quickest range trip ever - short but fun!

I had one shorter than that. Two months ago I went to the range, and set up as usual at the bench. Laid the revolver out, wiped it all down, ran a rod through the bore and the cylinder holes. Reached for the ammo box and I had brought 45c ammo and my 44 mags to shoot. I had loaded up the guns and ammo then changed my mind on what I wanted to shoot, but never changed the ammo out!
I know, I know. That's what happens when you get old-----
