Lead Shortage?

I just bought a box of 500 230gr. RN .452dia. Oregon Trail Laser-Cast Bullets at Sportsmans Whse. I paid $73.99 for them, yes I think that was high. But I figgered I'd pay more than that if I had to pay shipping if I ordered them. I was just wondering what the prices were like in ya'lls neck or the woods? The "Rocket Scientist" that worked there said the prices had gone up due to the lead shortage caused by the war. (just more Corporate Nazi price gougeing if you ask me) My question is: Why don't we get some lead from China? They certainly don't seem to have a shortage over there!!!

Re: Lead Shortage?

I just bought the hard cast 200 grain 45's and they are still only $38.50 for 500. I haven't priced laser cast. I know the jacketed 45's are way up there!

Re: Lead Shortage?

Just paid $58.00 for a box of 250 ct 405-gr RNFP hard cast bullets from Rim Rock Bullets which works out to be $11.60 a 50 ct bag purchased at Ronan Sports & Western, and that very same box back in Jan 07 was $32.00. But it is a far cry from the price increase on jacketed bullets where the same 250 ct of the Remington 405-gr JSP would have ran me $89.00

I'm saving my jacketed bullets for hunting, with since the price of copper has increased more than 400%

Re: Lead Shortage?

Got my order yesterday from Missouri Bullet Company. I ordered 1,000 357 158 gr SWC (BHN 18) on 5/3 and they immediately charged my credit card. They were shipped via USPS priority on 5/22 and I received on the 24th. I weighed 5 and the weights varied from 158.5 gr to 161.7 gr. The lube is neatly applied in the lube groove and they look like they are well made. I'll load some up later this week and try them.

Pricing for 1,000 was $52.00 + 9.85 (Ship)= $61.85

Re: Lead Shortage?

That's not a bad price. I have to get some of my 45 colts put together and test them.

Re: Lead Shortage?

Looking at the pricing Missouri looks better for 357 and 38 but Reloads N More is better for the 45 Colt. Plus the Missouri are cowboy loads and are BHN 12 so you can't horse them too much.
