Then a sourse of lead, I have used wheel weights and they did ok with me. But putting the pen to it I can come out a head buying them made. I buy mine from master Craft bullets, I have bought them from others companies, but I like master craft best of all. |

My 45 ACP mold is a Lyman http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?p ... ber=204749 and it cast .4515 bullets and I use a .452 sizer which only lubes the bullet and never sizes them . I use a taper crimp die to finish loaded round up and I like the oversize bullets for the extra hold and the taper crimp bring the load round to the correct size for chamber when finish . I hope that make sense |

I use the Lyman M die so the lead don't shave going into case and belling the brass isn't needed and I use the RCBS seater die to seat bullet only with the crimper not crimping , and the taper crimp step is last . It is one extra step , but the ammo come out perfect and feeds 100% . Since I use the 45 ACP for matches and defence I go the extra mile ..... |

Looks like the truncated cone should feed well in your P97. The mold I used was a Lyman two cavity throwing 200gr bullets using wheel weights. I found it worked well in the colt and no problem at all in the Blackhawk convert. I have found that you will have to work with the large capicity molds awhile before casting good bullets. The temp has to come up and be consistant through tho entire mold and you still may discard quite a few. The electric production pots are just about a must to feed these things. jmho |

I use a Lee 6-Cavity 230 Round Nose for mine. They work good in the P90, P95, and P345.

I think I will order it today, I cast for every handgun caliber that I shoot except the 45ACP so why not. |

I love casting my own. I use the 228gr RN Lee double cavity. If you are casting for plinkers, I wouldn't worry about sizing them. You can just tumble lube them & shoot'm. Yes, wheel weight lead is the shiznit. Cleaning them up is a nast & hot job, but once you have that done it's a breeze. Post some pics of your set up. |
