My dad's friend had a NEF Woodsman muzzle loader with a stuck breach plug. My Dad passed it on to me to fix it for him, so...I stuck it barrel down in a padded vise and kept spraying Kroil on it for the last couple of days. I had to make a breach plug wrench for it as he lost his (AND HAD NEVER TAKEN THE BREECH PLUG OUT). Long story short, I got it out and cleaned it all up. I lubed the snot out of the breach plug before I reinstalled it too. Moral of the story...Kroil is good stuff for getting stuck bolts unstuck. I'm going to be speaking sacrilege for some of you guys, but I think it's better than WD40. ![]() The only problem seemed to be where he left a charge of black powder in it for a long time, and it seemed to have a small rust spot in the barrel right after where the breech plug ended. I took a bronze brush and chucked it up in a cordless drill, and that seemed to smooth it out, but you can sure see a dark spot right there. I don't think it will hurt the accuracy any as the bullet seats farther up in the barrel than there, but to me rust on a gun is just plain wrong. |

I found Kroil back in 1989 while working as a machine mechanic. It's great stuff!

Read the reviews , 54 five stars and No four stars . I've been using it for years . I use Hoppe after cleaning with Kroil for lube and storage . http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?p ... ber=137203 |
