Arrow Ruger #3 ??

Ruger #3 ?? This will show You how smart I am ! A close friend of mine that I go to most of the gunshows with, just bought a beautiful little Ruger #3 in .223 Rem.. It is in "as new" condition, & till He got it, I didn't even know there was a #3 ! It is in super fine shape, & he is pleased with the range results. I'm happy for Him. I've always loved the Ruger #1's. How the heck did I miss these rifles ?? Anyone else here own one of these ? His makes Me feel like looking for one.

The #3 was a somewhat less expensive version of the #1. Have been out of production for many years.

They are a really nice little rifle, & quite accurate. Makes Me wonder why I never paid any attention to them ? I just may have to try to locate one for myself. (probably in .223 Rem.)

Tn., I've seen Your photos and they just never registered as something different. Without taking a really close look, I just assumed it was another "Custom" rifle on the #1 !

Go Figure !!

Re: Ruger #3 ??

The action on the #1 & #3 are the same except for the levers, #3 is a plane jane version of the #1.
I think they all had a 22” barrels, not sure.

So far the only ones I have seen around here are 45/70s and one 44 mag, I’ll wait and one will come my way I hope.

Re: Ruger #3 ??

I've been thinking about a single shot hunting rifle. i was looking at the handy Rifles, i think they are called. This Ruger looks real nice though. I bet they are a little out of my wallet's league though.

Re: Ruger #3 ??

They are really nice rifles and if I can ever find one in my price range (cheap) in 22-250 or 45/70 it will come home with me. The actions are smooth and nice.

Re: Ruger #3 ??

years ago I picked up one in 375 winchester NIB.the truth is I never got it to shoot worth a hoot with cast or jacketed loads.as avid reloader it is one of the very few I gave up on .maybe I just got a lemon ??.my 375 win big bore 94 would out shoot it any day of the week and its a lever.

Start using the reloading data for a 38-55 and not the 375 win crap and you will find that is a very accurate . I shot 375 winc in a number 3 Ruger in matches for a couple years and did well with it and my son shot in matches after me . . NO I don't remember the loads and I can't find my loading data on it . If you use 2400 powder , DON"T use a wad , it will ring a chamber . The #3 will like a cast bullet into the rifling like my 40-60 , maybe not that far out . I used the action to force the bullet into rifling the last .60 or so ...
