The #3 was a somewhat less expensive version of the #1. Have been out of production for many years.

Made from 1972 to 1987, 45/70,.22Hornet,.30-40 Krag,.223, .44 Mag,.375Win. I have been loking for one in 30-40 Krag for a long time. |

The action on the #1 & #3 are the same except for the levers, #3 is a plane jane version of the #1. I think they all had a 22” barrels, not sure. |

never owned one..........but have seen them in 30-40 Krag and believe it or not one in .357 magnum that was a limited run and had something to do with the california highway patrol.

So far the only ones I have seen around here are 45/70s and one 44 mag, I’ll wait and one will come my way I hope.

I've been thinking about a single shot hunting rifle. i was looking at the handy Rifles, i think they are called. This Ruger looks real nice though. I bet they are a little out of my wallet's league though. |

They are really nice rifles and if I can ever find one in my price range (cheap) in 22-250 or 45/70 it will come home with me. The actions are smooth and nice.

years ago I picked up one in 375 winchester NIB.the truth is I never got it to shoot worth a hoot with cast or jacketed loads.as avid reloader it is one of the very few I gave up on pete |
