The 10mm

Jeff Quinn has an article on the 10mm at gunblast.com. I have been intrigued with this caliber, but have never owned one, or even shot one for that matter. Not too many guns made anymore in this caliber. We sell the EAA in 10mm for $398. Glock is out of the question for me, as I hate them. I need another caliber to reload for like I need a hole in the head, but I keep thinking I need one! I view it as the .41 Magnum of auto pistols. Like the .41, not too many guns made anymore in the caliber, and it has somewhat of a "cult" following. Well, I love my .41 Mag, therefore I would have to love the 10mm, right???? Any of you guys have one?

Re: The 10mm

I don't own one Tim but have always wanted one. I view it like the .357 Sig or .45 GAP, one of those catridges that doesn't have a huge following but is well loved by the ones that do have them. Since Glock is out of the question for you maybe you can see if you can find a S&W 1006. They run a bit more than the EAA however, around the $600 mark when you can find them.

Yeah, I would love one, but they are hard to find, and they go for outrageous sums on gunbroker.

The EAA will probably develope a crack in the slide fairly soon. They're not the best guns and the 10mm is hell on slides.

Re: The 10mm

never owned one............have played around a little with a glock and a colt delta elite.

as much as i hate to say it, glock is probably the best of the breed as far as a 10mm semi-auto......especially if the 10mm is anywhere close to its orginal Norma ammo power level instead of the watered down loads for law enforcement.

http://www.bren-ten.com/agtman/id6.html

to be honest, i would pass on the 10mm in a pistol all-together and go for a S&W model 610 revolver with full moon clips. it can handle the mild and the wild without having to play with springs like in an auto and as a bonus it can also handle the 40 s&w rounds as well.

but i do see the advantages of a full power 10mm in a semi auto.....true magnum performance without going to a magnum size boat anchor weapon to do it like in a desert eagle.

I just learned that Kimber makes a 10mm. Now, that may be something I could use!

But is it something you, or anyone, can afford?

Re: The 10mm

My local has a only a few Kimbers left. They said that they can't get any right now. I didn't ask why, cause I wasn't shopping for one. Any ideas?

Re: The 10mm

No, other than everybody wants them. We don't carry Kimbers. Boss says they cost to much. But, he buys .50 cal Barrets, Dessert Eagles, and other assorted high dollar guns that we sell once every 6 months!

Re: The 10mm

I wanted a Desert Eagle back in the 90s but have been ho-hum on them for the past two decades. Hickok45 was shooting one in .44 Magnum in one of his videos the other day and now I want one again.

Re: The 10mm

To each his own, but to me, the Desert Eagle is just so big as to be totally impratical for most anything. I hate showing one at work, because I always check the chamber before showing anyone a gun, and the damn slide is so freaking hard to rack! I shot a friends in .50AE, and it was OK, but at over a buck a round, don't think I would want one.

Shawn, I have not heard any bad words about the EAA and them developing cracks in the slide. They are an all steel gun, and appear to be built like a tank. Where have you heard this?

Re: The 10mm

It's an assumption, Tim. I had an EAA SA revolver and it just seemed cheap. The hammer had a habit of dropping down to half cock by itself, and the thing always seemed stiff and the fit was iffy. I've seen some big bore EAA SA's real cheap at my local in the past, but have kept away from them. The semi auto line may be better. One way to find out, right?

Re: The 10mm

Yeah, I have seen their SAs and also their Windicator DA revolvers. They are junk. But, the semi autos are CZ 75 clones. I would think, if they are made right, that they would be good guns. I do know a guy that owns one, in .45 ACP, that came with a .22 conversion kit. He likes it. But, there is a pretty big difference in the pressures between a .45 and the 10mm. Yeah, there is one way to find out, but I don't want to be the one to find out the gun is a piece of crap!!!! It is all in the future anyway, as I still have two guns on lay a way!!!!

Re: The 10mm

You may hate the Glock, but it is the one with the softest felt recoil in 10mm for a reason. It is the only semi auto chambered for the 10mm that was not off of the 1911 frame, which was not ment to take the abuse of the 10mm presure. CZ and EAA have had nothing but problems with their handguns chambered in 10mm. I have shot and owned the Glock 20SF and it is great.

You may hate Glocks, but I have shot fullhouse loads in mine with zero problems.

Re: The 10mm

Does the Glock 10mm have a supported chamber? Have heard of the Glock .40s being rather prone to blow up with reloads, due to not have a supported chamber. If I bought a 10mm, I would definately reload for it, so that is a big consideration.

Re: The 10mm

You have to change out the barrels if your going to reload of r aq Glock. I know of no one that reloads for a Glock.

Re: The 10mm

I had purchased a Lone Wolf barrel for my 20SF, and it was not because of the chamber. I wanted the after market barrel because of the type of rifling that Glock uses in their barrels. I wanted to be able to use the super hardcast bullets, even though they are gas checked I still wanted the after market barrel for it. The nice thing about owning the Glock 20/20SF is that I can also get the carbine upper from MechTech http://www.mechtechsys.com/ and have a great 10mm Carbine CCU

Yes you can use reloads in your Glocks as I shot about 3K thru mine with no issues, the chamber issues were taken care of long ago. As with all reloads, they will void any manufactures warrenty. All my target loads I used bullets from Montana Gold, and a lot of the brass I used was from an agency that I got them from in Texas. I made that connection thru Deputy125.

A friend of mine that was issued one of the First S&W 1076, could not believe the differance in the way an all steel SA VS the Glock 20SF handled. I also have had good solid reports from those that carry the 10mm in the Alaskan Bush, where they would rather have 13 in the mag, 1 chambered than a wheelgun with 5 or 6.

Its your call on what you want, I just know what I like and for the trail and outdoors its a 10mm with full powered loads.
