Well, seeing as how the other thread has went so far off topic, thought I would start a new one! I changed the slide stop, and it worked better, but still had it happen one more time, that is, the slide would stay open with ammo still in mag. Today, I changed the guide rod springs, which where way over due from what Kimber tells you to change them. As a matter of fact, I have never changed them! Well, it is a dual spring deal, and the outer spring was easy to do, but the inner spring I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to get it off. With some help with a very nice guy on the 1911 forum, I finally got both springs off, changed, and back together without putting an eye out or anything. Took it outside just now and shot 60 rounds though her, with zero problems of any kind. So, hopefully, that was what the problem was all along. |

I hope it's 100% now. I'd put 60 more thru it to make sure before I carried it again.

I didn't know that they recommended spring changes. How often are you supposed to do it? I hope it is now dialed in for you.

Yeah, the manual states to change the recoil springs every 1800 rounds, the firing pin spring every 5000 rounds, the mainspring every 5000 rounds.
