FNX pistol

this pistol did catch my attention.........different back straps, ability to carry hammer down or cocked and locked, ambi safety/decocker to boot...............much like the current taurus system on their 92.

Re: FNX pistol

Looks pretty good. I didn't see an MSRP. The size looks good for CCW too. There are a lot of guns out there right now that look to be pretty good CCW guns. If I was shopping for one right now, I'd look into this one.

Re: FNX pistol

don't really hear much out of the FN USA guns...........But if Stephen Camp from the article says he almost likes them as much as a hi-power and they have a similar feel.then i take notice.

i really respect many of Camp's articles.

and he is indeed a fan of the hi-power..........

Re: FNX pistol

From my understanding the FNXs are the former FNPs renamed (or re-lettered if you prefer). I've been intrigued by their FNP/FNX .45 for sometime now and if were to purchase a polymer pistol with a hammer I'd opt for it over the PX4 Storm or Taurus PT845 due to the greater capacity of the FN.

Re: FNX pistol

I'd go with the FN over the Storm and Taurus too.

Re: FNX pistol

He used an FN USG 5.7x28 mm, a high velocity .22 pistol developed to penetrate body armor and holding 20 rounds in the magazine.

Re: FNX pistol

...does the speed make it so deadly, or is it the way the bullet behaves???

Re: FNX pistol

I have not seen any data on stopping power for that cartridge but I would not choose that round myself, particularly with non-expanding bullets. The high velocity is good for punching through the body armor that is increasingly common on soldiers but armor piercing capability has never tended to go with good energy transfer in soft tissue. I read that 9mm ball has more structural penetration then .45 but of course it never had the reputation for stopping power.
