How soon you plan on getting that? I'm going to stick with the Mini. It's packed away and waiting patiently.

Re: My next purchase....

The mags are cheap enough, and the ammo has come down quite a bit. It's like $300 per 1k for the PMC and it's pretty good ammo.

Re: My next purchase....

I've looked at a lot, and researched for a long time, and I had almost decided on a Spikes....one of our local shops has a couple in stock.....but, S&W came out with this model. I handled one last weekend, and liked the feel.

The only problem I'm going to have (and this is true with any rifle)....shooting handguns, I am cross eye dominant....most of the time I shoot right handed, but I sight with my left eye.....with a scoped rifle, I can use my right eye, but with iron sights, I can't focus on squat....gonna have to do something about that.....

Re: My next purchase....

I'm right handed and left eye dominant, so I shoot all rifles lefty.

It took me a bit to get used to, but I'm so glad I did. I've been doing it that way for 21 years now.

Re: My next purchase....

The easy fix would be to put a scope on it, but I really don't want to scope an AR......

Re: My next purchase....

The M and P is a nice rifle. But, there are lots of nice ARs out there now. But, I gotta admit, we have a used one at work we rent out all the time. It has seen many thousand of rounds, and it is still going strong.

Don't make me smack you into next week Johnny. You'll get bored waiting for the rest of us to catch up.

Re: My next purchase....

My problem with the AR platform is that I've never fired one.....I was in the Navy from '69 - '75, and on board ship, we just did not have that weapon. Besides, I was a gun mount capt. for GQ.....twin mount/computer controled 3" 50's are a far cry from an AR. Other than 22's, the only rifle I've ever owned was a Rem 742 Woodsmaster in .243....not a battle rifle at all.

Anyway, my point is that I have been researching this a a year or better, and was getting caught up in the chrome lined barrel, and all the other bells and whistles....I have come to my senses, and decided that a far less expensive gun would fit my needs nicely, and leave some money for ammo and mags......I hope it works out.....

Re: My next purchase....

The one I currently own I built. Or more precise, put the lower parts together. I started with a Double Star lower, and bought a kit from Del-Ton inc. With instructions from ar15.com, it was a piece of cake to put together. I did it before the Obama scare, so I probably did not have more than $600 in it initially. Of course, by the time I bought a Rock River National Match trigger, a Bushnell holosight, and other assorted doo-dads, I have a lot more in it now. I also bought a brand new Bushmaster. My build was every bit as good as the Bushy, so I ended up selling the Bushy during the scare and actually made a little money on it. Anyway, here is a pic of my Double Star:

It no longer sports the quad rails. I don't like them. Much prefer the original style handguards.
