I'm a huge fan of the M14. Anyone else?

Haven't been on this board for a long time.
I have 2 chicom M14/S semis and a Norinco M14 select fire.
The semis are OK, but you'd just about as well be shooting a Garand.
The Select fire on full auto is a pure POS!!! I almost never shoot it, but do take it along when some one thinks they should give it a try.
Here is the heard, from L - R = FN/FAL, M14/S x 2, M14 & AR 15. The FN/FAL is select fire and is a pure joy to shoot on FA!

The M-16 is the only "black rifle" I've used. Brother has a H&K 91 he's very fond of. The .308 has advantages over 5.56/.223, to him. I'm just not into rifles that much. An easier to maintain action, like the Mini-14, would appeal more to me.

My US Army basic training rifle was an M14.
My issue weapon in a stateside field artillery unit was an M14.
When I went to The Land Of Enchantment (aka Vietnam) I was issued an M16A1.

I have never had the desire to own an AR whatsoever.
BUT, I do own a 1994 Springfield M1A Standard Model made with many USGI parts. It is as close to my old sweetheart as I could get.
The only accessories I have added are a USGI OD Green web sling and an M6 bayonet. When I hold her I'm once again 19 years old and invincible.

I took 11B10 training and we had the M-14 in 1967. I was at luxurious Fort Dix. I fired the M-14A2 the full auto version for record. That was pretty useless trying to hit anything with it.

We had a weapons demonstration one day and they had a cadre firing the M-16. It jammed at least once with each mag. There were a whole lot of US and RA's that were real wide eyed because they knew where they were headed. I was an ER and just thought to myself what is the army doing. Think if I was headed over there I would have wanted to bring a handgun as well.
