I went to our local gun shop today, just 'cause I haven't been there in a while....so I decided to look at AR's......you've got to be kidding me....$1200 - $2295......that's plum crazy....AK's were $795 and up......the least expensive Kimber I saw was $1049......makes me feel that my woodworking isn't all that expensive after all.....

if you have an Academy Sports, they are more tollerable in teh 800 to 900 range......

A lot of the locals bought the AR's when they couldn't keep them on the shelves and now they have to keep the prices up to get back what they got into them. My local has tons. Lots of used stuff for about $800. At least most of the AR's out there today are very good guns.

same down here on prices in the local shops.those AR's are going to get dusty.
check the trader boards for some deals.everyone went out and bought one because of obummer and now money is tight and stuff will be up forsale.

under the clinton reign of terror, AR's shot up and prices became intollerable......then the bottom fellout of the market and many an "investor" suddenly was left high and dry.

the weak link in the chain right now is ammo......supply and demand in the private market has caused shortages and driven prices up. The govt has not really attacked this area yet, but when they do, i suspect prices will double in ammo within a years time. gun sales will suffer if you can't find or afford the ammo.
