10/22 Complete (almost)

Got my heavy barrel from Midway this morning, installed it and a weaver style tactical base, along with a WAY too big scope for this gun, just cause I had it laying around. The reason I say it is almost complete is I can't stand for the scope to be that high, and the scope is way too much for a .22, so I am gonna put something else on it eventually. Shot a couple hundred rounds through it, no malfunctions. The best shooting stuff I shot by a big margin was CCI Mini-Mags. Only thing is they shot a inch or more higher than everything else I shot through it. Followed by Centurian, which shot better than anything out of the thin barrel. The thin barrel did not shoot the Mini-Mags worth a damn. The Federal Lightnings shot decent, the el-cheapo Federal bulk pack shot worse in this barrel than in my thin original Ruger barrel! Just goes to show you how picky .22 rifles are.

...looks like business....some of the big-city swats were using them in the 70s where the centerfires posed a ricochet problem...they can be scary accurate...

You should be able to shoot the balls off a Knat!, At least you'll be able to see it!

I like it. It looks pretty cool with that big scope on it. Looks like it shoots 1 mile .5" groups

I put the one I had on it before, just a cheap Tasco 3-9x40. I have had it on there for many years, and it has been a decent scope. Probably a tad more appropriate for a .22 than the one in the pic!

Thanks to all for the kind comments. I really like the way the stock feels over the original. I always hated that cresent butt on the standard 10/22.

Now, I will probably buy a walnut stocked 10/22 just so I can have something to plink with. This one looks funny with a 30 round banana mag hanging out of it!

...I'd be curious if the extra HP of the CCI Stinger will bring that POI down...Vipers are another hypervelocity load...

The maker specifically says that Stingers will not reliably feed in the match chamber of this barrel.
