Danny got me thinkin'...

...a feat in itself.... but I was remembering the grease gun...there have been a few companies who copied the M1, M14, Tommy Gun, M1 Carbine...I think the old Grease Gun would sell like hotcakes in .45...semiauto, of course...could be made cheaply and beat the sox off HiPoint and Keltec...something inexpensive that would just keep crankin' the fatboys out would be a best-seller!!!

...WOW...just learned something...never knew that they could be converted to 9mm and back...neat thing... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M3_submachine_gun

...and magazine loaders ain't a new thing: http://www.rt66.com/~korteng/smallarms/grease.htm

Re: Danny got me thinkin'...

Just my opinion, but I honestly don't see much use in pistol caliber carbines, that are not full auto sub-guns, anyway. You get a little higher velocity than from a handgun, but sacrifice the portability of the handgun in the bargain. The military must have felt the same way, as they went with the M4 carbine, which, of course, shoots a rifle round, although of somewhat dubious power. But, even as underpowered as the 5.56 is, it is way more powerful than a pistol caliber carbine. In a nutshell, no pistol caliber sub-gun can match a rifle caliber carbine, in stopping power, in distance, or in accuracy. And todays M4s are every bit as portable as most pistol caliber carbines or sub-guns. Like I said, just my opinion. Take it for what it is worth.

Re: Danny got me thinkin'...

The grease gun fired from a open bolt like the org MAC 10 and can be made to shoot full auto in a heart beat . So BATF stop all production of them in open bolt . The open bolt MAC 10 in semi-auto sell in $2000 range and worth every penny . They can go to full auto and back to semi without any mod to gun in under 5 seconds ..... :P :P :P

...don't want any part of a pistol type...but a good, solid, reliable carbine would be nice...I don't want anything in full auto...terrific waste of ammo....

I think a good lever gun makes a good carbine . There got to be 75 different cal in them to any job you maybe need them for ... How about a lever gun to take high cap mag

Re: Danny got me thinkin'...

...now a levergun with a 30-rd stick, I could get into...but for close combat, I'd rather have a pistol caliber carbine...semiauto...like the .45---seems they did quite well in the wars with .45 caliber...most urban firefights don't need the range of an M16 or M14...a .45 or 9mm hi-cap carbine fills a gap and gives you more accuracy than a handgun without excess penetration...
...the .30-.30 sure served a lawman or two well, though...still does...I NEED a carbine...I Want a Hi-cap...that's the truth...

How about 92 win or Marlin in 45 LC [colt ] shoot 45 auto rim or 45 cowboy in it . It would be like shooting a old Henry but in 45 No one like the Marlin camp gun , It took S&W pistol high cap mags . I see them on Gun Brokers and they go cheap . There was a company making 16" barrels and shoulder stock for [your favorite ] Glock's . The kit where out of sight in price , I don't believe they sold any at there price

Re: Danny got me thinkin'...

...I liked the camp carbines...had a 9mm...the problem with many was in the stock splitting and something internal going wrong due to weakness in design...if they'd have reworked it...they'd still be selling them...I always wanted the .45 one but parts are not available any longer...

I love my 30 carb rifle , which is super shooter and MAC 10 is great for crowd control . If push come to shove my 308 M1 tanker Garand and a ammo box of ammo in clip is my 1st choice

Re: Danny got me thinkin'...

Personally, I like lever action carbines. Carried two different ones over th' years...a 30-30, and a Marlin .357. Always felt comfortable with either one.

However, changin' times kinda put th' "whoa!" on them...at least for a duty item. For "private use", tho', there's usually a "lever" close by.

Frankly, th' more carbines th' better, pistol caliber or otherwise!!!

Re: Danny got me thinkin'...

I we are talking 100 yards or less, I would take my .357 levergun over anything else I have ever held or seen. I know that there are better guns out there, but this works perfectly for me in speed of follow up shots, power, comfort and ease of carry. It gains more than just a little over shorter bbl of the handgun, but it can also share ammo with my sidearm. Oh yeah, it looks cool too.

Re: Danny got me thinkin'...

I sold a guy in Tenn. a large lever loop for a 94 winchester.I said they could call me for derections to install. The guy after we were done told me about this ww2 grease gun he had taken out of a planes over head console. He wanted to sell it to me.I was temped to but didn't buy it.The price was super cheap but a fill auto can cost to meny years in the pokey . So i declined toe offer.
