I put a deposit down on a Ruger 10/22. It's a bolt-action autoload with a 10 cartridge rotary magazine. I thought it'd be a great gun to start my daughters off. Anybody got any experience with one?

...I've had 4 through the years...bought one last year (traded for a brand new one, actually) for my 17-year-old...it sits in his closet with 2 Butler Creek Steel Lips 25-rounders taped back to back, loaded with CCI Stingers...ain't noone comin' through without permission... others say they're ammo-finicky, but I never had anything refuse to feed...never had a jam...failure to eject...anything...feels good in my hands and is just compact enough to handle well...I know of only one .22 rifle I'd trade one for...that's the Marlin Mountie lever action carbine...I'll have a Stainless 10/22 if I live long enough...hope they'll let me keep it at the nursin' home...

Best semi auto .22 on the market, IMHO. Have owned many over the years. Would not do without one.

If I wanted a semi auto .22, it would be the obvious and easy choice. Have fun.

With all the positive comments, Guess I'm going to try to pay it off sooner than I originally planned!

I've got several and want several more. I really want one of those target models with the .920 heavy barrel and the brown laminate stock, and a stainless International model with walnut stock too. You may find you need to try several different bullet manufactures to see if your 10-22 like some better than others. I have a "Liberty" 10-22 that shoots everything about the same but a Stainless Wally-World Sporter that only likes better brands and the Fed copper plated bulk to be somewhat accurate. I have scopes on two, and a stock/barrel/trigger group waiting for a receiver some day. All of mine are mostly stock with some add-ons like nylon bolt buffer pins, extended mag releases and aftermarket extractors. I know if I start going crazy with customizing, I'll sink a butt load of money and never hope to get it back. |

...now here comes the free advice...for hi-capacity clips...Butler Creek Steel Lips...the plastic ones and the 30 and 50 rounders don't work as well as the 25-rounders...first mod might be the magazine release...easy to change and the extended version makes loading BERRYBERRY much easier... http://www.butler-creek.com/products/ma ... anana.html |
