Ive got an old winchester model 12 12 gauge 2 3/4 chamber full choke. 55---serial number range. Pretty plain, with a really long barrel. Checkered butt stock, and wood fore grip, plastic butt-plate. Can anyone help me figure out a year made and worth of my gun please. It was a gift to my father and something he truly loves, there fore i would like to know a little more about it other than it shoots good and my favorite part MADE IN NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S. OF AMERICA

I have a 1897 Win , which is the same as your model 12 but with a hammer . Most all the parts interchange including the barrel system . Last edited by tx gun runner; 12-29-2011 at 11:58 PM. |

Yea, ive always wanted a 97...really did well on this one though, a old family friend had it in his closet for 25 or so years, and decided to part with it for a couple hundred, I knew i couldnt go wrong with that deal no matter the year or value....so i jumped all over it.

The Model 12 with the action slick like butter and a natural pointer. I have seen claybird shooter with a M12 that it was tough to tell they were using a pump. I'm sure there is some collector value with the older models depending on condition. I would be too tempted to just shoot and enjoy a great old shotgun.
