My dad was given this OLD two row by a friend of his. It's an American Gun Co, SxS 12 gauge made around 1900. The forend is missing completely, and it looks as if at some point somebody decided to paint it flat black. I decided this summer was as good as time as any to get it looking at least presentable. I can find a new forearm for it, but the but stock is proving to be very difficult. I can get a blank stock that would have to be fully intletted for $50 or so, or get on that has been inletted and needs final fitting and finishing for $160. The but stock is cracked and split in about 3 different places, and is barley hanging together with the help of some old brass wood screws. I'm going to try getting all the old paint and rust off with oil and steel wool, if that doesn't work I might just sandblast the darn thing. The cool thing is, the action works surprising well, the trigger pull is stiff, but I think with a little oil and cleaning it could be made to function well. Well see how it goes through the summer. The gun really isn't that valuable as they were a cheaper made shotgun made by Crescent Arms with the American Gun Company, New York roll mark. I would just like to get it looking like a decent old wall hanger. Hey Johnny, you wouldn't happen to have a parts gun of one of these laying around would you? ![]() ![]() |

I'd send it to you for repairs, but you'd just cut the barrels off. |

If I was looking for a wall hanger, I'd hang it like it is. It has tons of character. If that thing could talk...

...neat...what's the other one??? I used gorilla glue on a job first time Fri...it expands a lot as it dries...would that really work well on a stock crack or should we stick to regular wood glue??? I think you're lookin' at NEW stock on this job...right? |

Yep...a whole new stock. If it was just the split I would glue and sand it, but it's broke in 2 other places.
