My New Coyote Gun

If it works out anyway. It's a Mossberg 835. It is used but in really good shape. It was $295 OTD. I like the sights. It has a rear peep and a front glowy one. I don't know yet if it will accept 3.5" shells.

Re: My New Coyote Gun

AWESOME!!! Good luck getting close enough to a coyote to use a shotgun. I have seen them close enough to shoot with a shotgun only when they were raiding garbage cans.

I don't remember shooting one under 100 yds , but that's in Ca and Az . I used a sick rabbit call , it said crippled rabbit on the box , when I used it , it sound like he stubbed his toe at worse .

I have some 835s and they shoot the 3.5 shells.
You can get different barrels for it, there easy to change.

I also have the 500AT. Are the barrels interchangable? My local sells used barrels too.

Re: My New Coyote Gun

I asked Mossberg about that, they did not say yes and they did not say no, what they did say is that they don’t recommend it in so many words. I will look and see if I can find there reply. I have not tried it.

Re: My New Coyote Gun

I could not find Mossberg’s reply, but they left me with the feeling that they would. It will change it from a 3.5” to 3.0” or 2 3/4” chambering depending on what barrel you have, JMHO

Re: My New Coyote Gun

The 500AT takes 3" shells. I wouldn't bother changing them, but have seen more used 500 barrels than 835 barrels. The chances of me actually buying additional barrels is slim. For the price of the guns, I'd just buy a whole new one.

Re: My New Coyote Gun

That will work like a charm. If you're hunting thick woods, a 12 gauge is just the ticket on yotes.

Those #4's I patterned did kick a bit. I was surprised. The buck shot let me know what was up in a hurry.

Re: My New Coyote Gun

It was worth the money, what have you put on it for sights, I ended up with a Nikon 1.65-5 X 36 Turkey Pro with Weaver base and Leupold low rings, put a .685 Kick’s Gobblin Thunder choke on it to. Now I need to get out and pattern it.
