i sure like the lock-up of the action and they seem to point well........ those savage/stevens 94's i occasionally run across as well. But the winchester 37, well that's like a cadallic of what use to be "poor boy" single shots. i know well enough to stay away from the winchester "37A" model as i've read they just ain't the same as a "37". i just never seem to find a sweet deal anymore. it would be fun to take two days in dallas or houston and just make pawn shops, gun shops, and shows to see what a feller can run across....just do two days of hard non-stop gun shopping.....but there are two problems..... time and money.............and they rarely go hand in hand. |

I have a nice 94 in 16 g i paid $65.00 for years back.And my 19 in 30/30 has a 16g barrel as well.I love those old Stevens savage Springfield's 2. Did a quick look I have in 37 win. 1 410g 2 16g 1 20g and 3 12g. I thought that looked wrong.2 are red litter both 12g. They are sweet to handle , fell good in the hand. Look at this add i found on G/B Tonight.. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIt ... =170906946 |

Beautiful thing is you can find these old 'hump-backs' at shows for around a C-note. The other SXS's were Czech (hammerless) & Russian (hammered) and cost about $ 125 each including shipping!

That's some pretty good prices on them, ET. They are good to shoot right?

Yep. any suspect ones with loose lock up went right back to the distributor. The 520's are good to go. Obviously checked out befor purchase at shows. The only issue 1 had was the slide rod was bent slightly & wouldn't always carry the bolt forward. A quick bend the other way fixed that right fast. You can always tell positive lock up of the bolt by looking at the top of the receiver.

Good deal then! My local will sometimes have a really old shotgun in house with a tag that says, wall hanger, or something. They will tell you that it can not be fired safely, but will make a nice decoration. I suppose they will, but I don't feel the need to spend money on a gun that I can not fire. |
