Back in March I had traded off my Ruger Vaquero in 45 colt for a used set but were changed over to beisly the gun smith that did the work is called West Flower. Great guns and has realy made my times faster. How ever they had problems from the hard use that they get from the preveious owner. Anyhow had to have the hammer re- welded on one and I wanted the other fitted the same way so they did the work. My shooting partner was to bring the gun back this past week. So Monday I head over there to his place and we are talking and I asked him about my gun. He starts looking for it but he can't find it. I thought he was going to have a heart attack. We looked for a while and no gun, I talked him into calling his wife in Clarksville to see if he had left it there. No luck it wasn't there, now he is really scared. The washing machine had gone out up there in Clarksville and he had to have a new one so he went to home depot to get one and had a time getting one that they had in stock. He needed help getting it set up so he had his wifes distance cousin help him. While they were working on the change out of the washing machine the cousin notice my gun and was really taking a liking to my gun. So my pal showed him the gun, no big deal. While the going on was going on the cousin went back into the house and my pal is wondering wehy he did that and then just desmist it. Until Monday morning when he couldn't find my gun and he was thinking the cousin had taken my gun. He was sick no color in his face nothing. I told him when he told me he thought happened, that we need to look again and maybe call his wife back again and have her look one more time before we drove the 260 miles to Clarksville to have a look for our selves. So we looked one more time and he found it in a Heb green clothe bag that I know he picked up at least 3 times before. He found the gun and was sure glad of that and so was I. But through the whole ordeal of the lost gun I was the one that remained calm. He was really shaken. He told me that he would have brough me a brand new set of guns had it really turned out that the gun was taken. I told him well that is nice but really it would have just never set well with me that he had to do that. He was feeling bad that he thought that way about the cousin but as I told him it was easy to do. The man has lost everything is just barely making it has to ride a bicycle to work. So I could easily see how he would think the way he was thinking. All is good and he is ok now but I am going to have to keep an eye on him getting so upset and really scared me in the fact that I thought he was going to have a heart attack on me. The gun is expenive but sure wasn't worth my friends life. Not to me anyways, but we can laugh about it now and will always have a laugh about what happened. His wife laughs at us both she says I never know what you two are going to get into but I can always be asured that you two are going to get into something. |

glad it all went ok................. we all tend to respect other's guns and get a bit shaken if something goes wrong.....that's why a lot of folks refuse to hunt with a borrowed gun and want one of their own. |

Snuffy, glad that it worked out and the lost gun was just misplaced. I do stuff like that all the time. We call it C.R.S., Can't Remember 'Stuff'---- I look for 'stuff' all the time that I hide from myself. But I've never lost a gun! Last week I found a Christmas present we bought for the son two years ago - and I just found my gunnerforum t-shirt that I misplaced and haven't seen for six months. I swore someone broke in the house and stole it. Still think someone 'borrowed' it and when I raised such a fuss they snuck it back in the house so I would find it and think I was loosing my mind. |
