If you read this article, you will notice that Jeff Quinn makes mention of the fact that the gun is marked "Vaquero" and not "New Vaquero". I find this somewhat odd and very confusing. Don't know why Ruger would stop marking them as a "New Vaquero." |

I'd like to see the GP100 in 44 special with a 4" or 5" barrel. They may have used the larger frame on them. That's weird and will confuse people more than they already are about the damn Vaqueros. |

I'd like a GP100 in .44 Special, too, but I'd like a 6 and, maybe, one in 8 3/8. Just for grins. Molon Labe Kim |

No. It is the same small frame, they just did not mark it "New Vaquero". | |

Looks like a neat little gun. I'd have to try the 3 3/4" barrel first to see if I'd like it but I know the longer 4 5/8" variety could find a new home with me. I don't usually like the Vaquero as much as the Blackhawks but with no 'case coloring' and the cleaner lines, this looks sweet. I shoot 44spl in the SBH, I'd like to give them a try in this gun too. I'd bet it would make one nice trail gun or even bedside carry! Quinn did his usual great job of writing an article. Lots of pictures and well written evaluation from a shooter's perspective. |

Another quick observation- I'm assuming the simple Vaquero designation was used as there is no need to distinguish this gun from a previously issued "original' Vaq., as there was none. So when compared to the 45, where there are "Blackhawk only loads", the loads normally used in the 44 spl , even heavier +P types, will be safe to use. just my 2c, of course |
