As big a Ruger fan as I am, and a Blackhawk fanatic, I just never seen the use for the .30 Carbine round in a handgun (it aint much in a rifle for that matter!) It just does not do nothing for me. And if you have ever stood beside someone when they where shooting one, it is the loudest dang handgun round you can imagine!

But as a collector of guns,,,You should be thinking in the back of your head...Buy 1 or 2 now cos 1 day they will be desirable to the people coming up behind us... Think about that now make a pile of bucks later.

Re: Ruger .30 Carbine Caliber Article

30 carbine is a super round in a pistol when load with pistol powder and not rifle powder , the muzzle flash will be 1/2 . You can call it a rimless 32-20 or 9mm mag which is 2 more peas in a pod . The new 327 fed TRYS to compete with it . When I loaded the 30 carbine I used the 32-20 pistol loading data for years . Some Ruger will shoot and chamber the 32-20 round . It is a very pleasure gun to shoot and super accurate to boot .

Re: Ruger .30 Carbine Caliber Article

A VERY fun gun to shoot, and I wanted one for years until I finally got an OM last year. I like the loud noise and everytime I take it to the range, people are always stopping to talk about it and asking to shoot it. They are surprised at the mild recoil and the accuracy out to 25yds. I am really wanting to take it pig hunting but haven't had the chance yet.
It's definately more fun to shoot than the .357 mag.

Re: Ruger .30 Carbine Caliber Article

well.............since the powers that be have decided that all those old surplus garands and 30 carbines can not be imported from S. Korea, i wonder if they will let the surplus ammo they got squirreled away to be imported in?

Re: Ruger .30 Carbine Caliber Article

Congress has a bill to allow the importation of the M-1's a curio's and relic's.

My wifes uncle had one that I fired many years ago (probably 40 or so) and it was a fun and pretty accurate. Her uncle was a gun lover so we hit it off immediately. He had a backyard rangle that was 100 and 200 yards with a bench he had built. It was an excellent set up.
