Now I have to wait until Monday to call Browenll's to see if the one they have will work or not. The ratchet on the cylinder cut much deeper than my other Vaquero's So I am not sure if it will work if not then I have to get Ruger to send me one. Yes I could send the gun back but the cost of shipping for a 6 dollar part just can't see it. |

The so called main match Ruger race gun became a Ford, the firing pin broke, had that problem with the other one they fixed it or said they did. Ok asked them to replace the other one I was told there simply wasn't any need, the gun never hit one primer today. I had to borrow a gun to finsh the match. The lady was real nice to let me do that too. Well I am going to contact the shop that I got the guns from and see what they will do about either selling them to get my money back doubt that will happen. I am sure they're not going to give me my money back either. Either way next month means nothing to me. I am in dry dock, well that's life nothing I can do about it. Even if I do get the part for the new gun there isn't enought time to get the trigger time I want to for the big match. This has sure left a real bad taste in my mouth. |

I will call the place later this mornig see what they have to say. I doubt it will be much more than they will fix the gun, I am of the way thinking that was the trouble to start with. But if its costing me nothing to fix the gun then let it be that that they do. As far getting my money back doubt that big time. TGR did point out try and sell it on the Sass wire and see how I do, told me how to do the sale. Well the guns don't eat ammo any more and maybe there will be someone on the Sass wire thaqt can get these guns and really make them run for them. Right now if they were made of gold they would still be junk to me. Had I had a torch today I would have cut them up and been done with it. No it wouldn't have fixed anything but I would have felt better for a little while, I keep thinking about it I might take a BFH after them |

I've been there Snuffy and I understand the feeling. I have thrown new guns in a drawer for years because they were defective and I did not want to deal with sending them back while I was that disappointed. I sat on a new Taurus PT-100 for ten years before sending it back to be fixed. It is fine now but I had just ordered two S&W revolvers and both were crappy in my opinion. One I never fired, though I had it for years. I understand too well. I seem to be having better luck of late but I always expect trouble. |

...this makes my point about Ruger quality suffering lately...and this ain't internet bitchin'...it's real...I'll stick to the used Ruger market, thankyouberrymuch!!! Sorry, Snuffer, for your disappointing experiences with these two...find some older ones and shoot-'em-up some more...

Sorta like buying a use car with a million miles on it what do you expect. But not all is at a loss here I called the owner and was told he would buy them back if I wasn't happy with them. I told him the orginal deal and how much money it was he said I don't want anything to do with any thing that isn't right. Or something like that, anyhow I drove the 275 miles today round trip got the check and wrote them a check for a new one. Ok so I am not going to have the race guns for the big match, well as far as I can tell these guns are going to have a better chance of finshing the match. I wasn't able to get a hold of Ruger today, guess they were off because of Columbus day. Ok guess so,anyhow there is always tomorow. This interesting I was told by the owner of the shop that I was cutthe end of the firing pin off when I would spin the cylinder to see if I had a high primer at the loading to table. Well the same could happen at the unloading table had I missed knocking out an empty case. The guns didn't have the free spin pawl in them. Well I got the money back that I put in the trade as well as what he gave me on the trade guns. I am happy and I got another New in the box Bisley Vaquero. Which I am better at shooting than I was the race guns, the only race guns that I shot that worked well for me were his wife's gun's. Since I am sure she isn't going to give them up and beside her name was on them. It worked out I didn't think it would but it did and all is well. I do believe I will keep them stock and just work on getting them smooth. Thanks for everyones help and concern. |

...my mistook...thought it was your new ones...no, I expected them to be your new ones...YMMV applies to this, too...but I still feel the quality was better on their older products...and my $5 goes to the used market...glad it WASN'T your new ones...hope they perform perfectly for you...

Well, we members of the "Ain't never had no problems with newer Ruger revolvers" club feel very vindicated now.

Had been having trouble with the old Ruger's that were so post tobe slicked up race guns, between hammers firing pins and so forth. Now one of the New Ruger New Vaquero the pawl broke on it. Its had only 50 rounds throught it. |

Lots of times the "slicked up" guns with mods will have problems if the work weakens the parts. But in your case it seems the heavy use might also have been a factor. I belive a smooth running factory gun with a reverse indexing pawl would be whay I would prefer too. Good luck at your big match. |
