...Just took out the trash...

...with bare feet and cutoff shorts and my P90 tucked in my belt...and felt guilty the whole 30 steps out and 30 back because I didn't have any spare clip in my pocket...has the world changed or what? I remember officers who did their whole career with a 1911 and no spare ammo or a Chief's Special and just those 5...I'd say we're cranked up a few more notches than back then...but it goes with the times...even around the house, I keep a clip in my pocket...go over to H's and the other 2 hit my back pocket...life is real...

Re: ...Just took out the trash...

I know what you mean. Yesterday, I just went outside for a few minutes to re-paint my steel targets, and left the gun in the house. I wasn't really worried about it, but I did kinda laugh and say to myself that I might get raped while my gun was in the house! Where I live, in the middle of 35 acres out in the country, I worry more about snakes and such than I do people, but you honestly just never know anymore.

I know what you meen, I don't leave the house without one. In the city you just don't know, even sleep with my Sig very close at hand. At home it's mainly snakes Coyotes and an ocasional Cougar, the 4 legged ones!

Re: ...Just took out the trash...

I’m in the city 90% of the time, going to the store it one of the five shots and 12 extra rounds, going out for the day its one of the ACPs and two extra mags plus one of the five shots and at least 6 extra rounds. Doing yard work it’s a five shooter and 6 extra and a ACP and shotgun close buy. Have I ever told you guys how much I like the city life……..

I like the city too, I like it 100 miles away with a mountain range between! Unfotunately I have to work here so it is work and my little 500sqft cave! The only other white guy there is one of my neighbors, I don't speak spanish, don't wear a turban and don't drive a lowrider so me and my buddy Siggy just keep to ourselves.

Re: ...Just took out the trash...

i've been in some serious soul searching thought about being a LEO and when off-duty..........

i've packed a snub for a lot of years but have been wondering if i should increase my firepower by going to a ruger SR9c............the advantages of 10 rds on board plus a 17rd mag for reload..............27rds total with a controlable 9mm in a more accurate format to increase offensive capability..........

or stick with my ever loving snub with 5 on board, two speedloaders, and try a set of laser grips to increase offensive capability....but still keeping my "get off me now" reliability of a revolver.............

again.........a tap rack bang drill is nothing i want to experience in a defensive situtation with agressors within arms length.........

Re: ...Just took out the trash...

...speakin' as an ole hardheaded trainin' officer who loves you...carry two...one deep...one quick...everything you listed would be great...it's worth the sacrifice...one day you may walk in where you don't recognize them...but they do you...and the dance might get a tad long before someone cuts in on you...be prepared...two is one...one is none...if'n a fella had a P89 or P95, that'd be a tried-n-true primary with a 15-rd mag in it and a backup mag...but don't leave the snub sittin' home...times are changin' quickly and we don't know how much...might have to fight our way back home one day...

Re: ...Just took out the trash...

i know................i have packed 2 on occasion but have gotton lazy. I've packed a model 65 in a fanny pack along with a snub in the pocket on occasion....but a pocket draw is still faster than a fanny pack draw and since i walk around all the time off-duty with my hand in my pocket that helps draw time. no one seems to give a dang and the public in these parts seem clueless about life.

i need some more time with some laser grips............and perhaps start thinking "cargo" pants..........

We just busted another multi-county burglary ring.....stolen vehicle parts, welders, tools, trailers, etc. etc...clearing burglaries, photographing and returning property........ Had a suposed home invasion yesterday but proved it up as a false report and i'm working on getting 4 warrants out of that mess. More thefts, another minor drug bust.........and some idiot going 104 mph on the highway..............been getting awful busy.

Re: ...Just took out the trash...

People are getting crazier by the day, Deputy.

Jen was looking at the SR9c as well. Nice little gun, if it goes bang 100% of the time. New guns make me nervous. Seems like everything is recalled for one reason or another anymore.

The sr9c seems to be problem free, all the kinks got worked out with the sr9 fiasco.

Sheepdog, a pair of shoes would probably come in handier than a spare magazine in a defensive situation. That is unless you are one of those guys with calluses so thick that you can run on gravel, pavement or broken glass.

...to each his own...if someone makes me draw my weapon...it ain't me who'll be runnin'...that's real...you're too young to feel that way...give it 20-30 years...

True, but I do often work with a contractor that runs in several marathons a year. He is north of 60.

I find myself carrying a gun to the bathroom even if I'm only doing 1 of the 3 "S" anymore . The trash is a no brainer
