the cowboy way?

for 45 acp lovers at least

45acp
over 1300 fps with the longer barrel
ammo compatable with the handgun
30 rd mags

there is still a lot that can be said for the "dual purpose" round for handguns and rifles if for no other reason than the old cowboy line of thinking.......logistics and costs.

http://www.gunblast.com/Masterpiece.htm (check out the video box on the right side of the page)

of course us wheel gunners still like levers........but at least this one is in the ballpark price wise.

and i think a 230 fmj ought to work out yonder at any reasonable self defense SHTF distance. Sure there are always exceptions, but we all can't lug a barrett 50 BMG rifle around "just in case"......

threaded for a suppressor also sort of makes sense......for the long haul.

now if highpoint would get off their butt and make a 45 acp carbine...........for under $300

sure, this "masterpiece" is $500, but at least that is 400 cheaper than the beretta!

I like it. The stock would suck though. Looks like it would be impossible to get a solid cheek weld.

Re: the cowboy way?

They are not target guns , so don't expect to much . You can use M-1 grease gun mag [ which are smooth as glass ] with a little file work on the mag stop and you can still use the stock mags .

Re: the cowboy way?

It wasn't the Cowboy that made the pistol rifle in one caliber happen. It was the demand of the the Texas Ranger's, it was a major need for them as they often patrol long distance and were most of the time on their own. In town the liked and insisted on the short barreled shotgun (we call them sawed off shotguns). Their reasoning was ya can back alot of people down with a short barreled shotgun. Still holds true today, not many will go up against a sawed off shot gun at close quarters- me included lol.
I think it would be more on target that a mac 10, Leo's need hitting power, not spray and pry that they hit the target.

We carry that gun and I got to tell you it is heavy as hell. Not something I would want honestly.

Re: the cowboy way?

The fire arm that deputy has shown here I think would really work for the Leo's. RThe opnly thing full auto fire does is keep the people your shooting at froim shooting at you. The North Hollywood shoot out the rifle that saved the police's bacon was the AR 15 that ofcourse they got from a local gun shop. Isn't that a kick in the pants a local gun shop has what they needed to stop the crazy's.
gunman I agree no need to carry something like that around, I bet it can't hit the target very far out.

Re: the cowboy way?

..great reliability record for sure...but that's what I'd call a limited-application firearm...it's for stoppin' a wholelottashitfast...and not for long range or targets or meat-gatherin'...times we're in now, I gotta have a shoulder stock and semi-auto...and conserve ammo....back when .45 ball was $5 a box, that'd've been a lot of fun, but it'd cause me pain in the back pocket everytime I shot it these days...

Re: the cowboy way?

I could care less how it shoots or what type of ammo ya can shoot out of it. My point is that in the cities and towns where the leo do get in to shoot ouuts with the bad guys spray and pray on the leo's part shouldn't be part of the the picture. Bullet's once let go can't be called back. Bullets have a bad habit of going threw walls and hitting innocent people. So save your words pal, I will never agree with you period, get over it.
