Re: How Close...

ah yes....................

by the stats that can be obtained, the over-whelming vast majority of shootings happen in a distance of less than (3) THREE FEET.......and that is stats on leo's that are collected.

That is why i'm big on point shooting and punch shooting and also why DA and DAO weapons are in truth fine by me for concealed carry. Now i've always appreciated some distance shooting thanks to NRA hunter/pistol matches.........and it has prejudiced me to wanting duty handguns capable of at least 10 ring accuracy at 25 yards while shooting NRA distinguished pistol matches with service sidearms.

But for concealed carry, i demand pocket carry most of the time, and practice drills that do not require lining up the front and rear sights.........from the hip, from a fbi crouch, to a punch, to just using a "flash" alignment of the frontsight on the target..............it might be 8 ring shooting up close....but it beats trying to shoot when you're on your back.

and that is also another reason i like pocket carry...........i can walk thru a parking lot and place my hand in my pocket and most would think nothing of it..........but it gives me a tactical edge.

They are right.........distances can be closed very quickly so i want the edge.

Good read. Both the article, and deputy's post.

Re: How Close...

...I had my oldest standing at the foot of a queen-sized bed, "throwing" bbs from a CO2 pistol into a cloth tied over a 5-gallon bucket...starting hanging down and firing from the belt...punching them in...when he was 10...it's worth practicing at least 1/2 of the time that way...at a range, where they won't let you do kinky stuff...you can still fire over the gun at your chest level...and get surprisingly good...up to 5 yards...the word is practice...Dep's exactly right...

Re: How Close...

...well, I HOPE the first pic's a replica...or a toy...but it could be an Official Police or New Service...
...my old eyes tell me the gun in the lower pics is blued...not sure...for me to be involved, the whole gun would have to be BLUE...but the info's thought-provoking...
