Solution:
Focus on your GOTO guns and buy as much ammo as you can. Every week buy as much as you can. Before you know it you will be surprised how much you have.

Gee, re-reading this whole thread makes a year and a half seem like a lot longer. A change in political atmosphere can sure make a difference.

Store ammo shelves are full of every kind of .22 you'd want. A year ago we wondered if we'd ever see that again. I've got more than I'll live to shoot. I haven't bought any ammo of any caliber since then, except .32 Auto for the new Guardian.

I'm not shooting that much .22 since I moved to the outdoor range. Being sort of bullseye oriented, I only like to shoot 10 shots at a target. And I can only put up at most 6 targets, and I have to use 2 target holders to do that. That's because they yell at you if you try to put 2 rows of targets side by side. So if I shoot 120 rd of .22, I've gone through 2 cycles of hot and cold range. I can usually only stand 3, so if I shoot 22 the way I want to I can only shoot 1 other gun. So I'll probably never put a dent in the 22 ammo I have.

These days there's plenty of 22 ammo on the shelves everywhere. I have also noticed center fire is a lot more reasonable priced. I can buy 45acp for 15.00 or less, .357 & 44 mag is still high but better.

I too bought 50 cal cans. Then my age crept up on me. Late 70's is not a time to try to tote two 50 cal can of ammo. You best buy only 30 cal cans. Live and learn my friend. OH, by the way. never remove the ammo from the factory boxes. When you kick the bucket, your wife will have to sell the ammo and out of the box ammo will not sell well.

Academy has them for $ 22, with free shipping over $ 25, and no tax for Colorado.
.
edit: I originally put in a link, but it kept going to shoes.
