Analysts have noted that Federal Cartridge and other ammunition makers had expected that an election win for Hillary Clinton in November might have spurred sales as gun-rights enthusiasts stocked up on guns and ammunition for fear of tougher gun regulations to come. Such forecasting was thrown to the wind when President Donald Trump won the election. http://m.startribune.com/federal-car...ction=business |

That's ridiculous. If the stuff was available, it would sell. Federal is the most scarce brand in my area. Lots of Remington. If Federal was sitting next to the Remington, I know which one people would grab. All the Federal .22 I've seen in the last year is AutoMatch, except two times I could get an American Eagle brick. No Value Packs for nearly two years, no brick or 50 round Champion for even longer. On their.38, I've never had trouble getting what I want, the 130 gr FMJ. |

All gun related manufactures have had their hay ride thanks to Obama. lt is time to get back to reality with even supply levels, and reasonable profits.

I bet in about, mmmm..... three years it could all go cray-cray again. The rhetoric for the next election will start in earnest before you know it. ![]() |

I think there's some sort of backroom dealing with the distributors. Remington's overpriced junk rimfire is everywhere, Federal is not. You can get all the Federal centerfire you want, though. All my big boxes used to have tables stacked with hundreds of Federal Value Packs. I thought I'd be seeing those stacks again by now. Doesn't make sense to me; I haven't seen a Value Pack in two years. I read that I'm part of the problem, because I have 32k of .22. I can go years on that. The real problem was that production couldn't or wouldn't keep up. I couldn't always find what I wanted, so I bought extra every time I did. I only have 1200 rounds of .38, because it stayed on the shelf pretty well. At least I saved money in the long run. Most of my .22 was 2-3 cents. I have Mini-Mags that were 6 cents. If, as one of the conspiracy theories goes, they held back to raise prices, it just shot them in the foot. |
