Gel test usefulness, and caliber wars

I'm not impressed with the Lucky Gunner guy, but here he's talking to two experts at Federal about gel testing, and caliber wars being dumb. They say that under 2200 fps, velocity doesn't matter so much in any gun, and in handguns caliber doesn't make much difference. It's all in bullet design. About 13 minutes.

To some extent, I agree with this. Recent case history studies of actual shoot outs show that caliber wars are pretty pointless because all the current SD cartridges have a at least a respectable record. That, and recent improvements in bullet design really have leveled the playing field. As for gel test on boob-tube, they are so rarely done under controlled conditions as to be better in terms f their entertainment value than info content.

"Fast is fine but accuracy is final" Wyatt Earp. In 130+ years later it still holds.

+1 From all I have read recently, placement is the key element!

I appreciate gel test on specific cartridge analysis. I have a truck gun in 556/223 and I want a round that offers rapid expansion. I believe gel tests help in making a wise decision.

HI, BC. Yup, all is well. Just trying to get through a very hard winter, up here. Set a record for snowfall (almost 10 feet and it's still snowing). Will stop by, now and then. Haven't forgotten my pals, here.

A person with a bat or knife a shot in the knee cap stops them in place . If they have a gun a H&H [ head & heart ] or double tap will kills 90% in a few seconds. The name of the game is a well placed shot will do the trick . Combat type matches will make you a better shooter .............Paper targets shooting will NOT .

Maybe even a gun? I love this Boston Legal scene. Distraction saves Captain Kirk's butt......
