Ready for war?

Made another curiosity stop at Sportsman's Warehouse. I wondered why their parking lot wasn't near full as usual, going in solved it. There wasn't much to buy.

They now have no rimfire at all. Their handgun ammo would fit in two shoeboxes. Mostly .40, a few .44 Special, .45 Long Colt, and six boxes of .500 S&W. That was all. The long gun ammo would have all fit in four shoeboxes. No .223 or 5.56, no surprise there.

Clerk said the distributor told them not to expect much more for at least a month, while the manufacturers catch up. They've stopped some production to do maintenance.

I hardly ever see Colt .45s on the shelf anymore.

I guess a buying frenzy started when the Covid lockdowns began and then exploded when they started the defund the police lunacy. Both handguns and many types of rifles in addition to ammo.

Kittery Trading Post is a large retailer just over the border into ME, similar to LL Bean but heavy into firearms. I did a search last night for all used pistols in .40 S&W and they had 2. Usually they would have 15-20 Sig's alone in that caliber. No bargains out there now and if you are looking to sell, it's time.

Went into the local Dunham's yesterday and they had a fair selection of firearms ( for them ) but the ammo cabinet was more dust than ammo.

Quantities of "on hand" ammo in the home depends on how many people shoot how many calibers, how often do they shoot, and how many rounds do they like to send down range each time they shoot.

Then.....comes shortages due to riots, threatening rights communist corrupt * hack politicians and virus desperation, which are other reasons to have a s^i* ton on hand.

That's my take on it and another bulk shipment is always near & dear to my (dark) heart.

*Edit lying scumbag
