This is a discussion on My Trip to Sportsman's Warehouse Yesterday within the Ammunition forums, part of the Gunner Forum category; In Roanoke. Ammo shelves were 90% empty. What was left was basically the unpopular stuff. Has anyone ever seen a worse shortage than this before?...

I've been posting frequently here about their empty shelves. They are Roanoke's best source, so if they're out, there's no point in looking at other stores. This is the worst I've seen. In past shortages, you could usually get something in your caliber, if not your brand. The first shortage in 2008 taught me quickly. In my three calibers, I have more than I'll live to shoot. |

And they say this time is going to take a whole lot longer to recover from. Not good for new gun owners and there are a whole bunch of them out there, which of course is one of the reasons for it. My first shortage was 2013. The one where you couldn't find a .22 anywhere, lol. |

Well, one of the clerks made a good point. Once we hit the saturation point, people hitting their limit, the shelves will be full of dusty ammo.

Renewed my conceal carry in the first of October. Was called last week to pick it up. They said they were behind because 14,000 had applied. What is going on? Is everyone carrying? I hope not as from the way I have seen others handle their guns and then shoot. |

IMHO The more the merrier for owning and carrying. The larger the number the less likely those on the fence are to knuckling under to the likes of the Biden Crime Family.

Also, a lot of the new gun owners are Democrats. First time buyer Democrats. Maybe now they will see things a little differently. |

Bass Pro buying Sportsman's ? I didn't know until now. I don't like Bass Pro, or Cabela's which they also own. Too much store brand Chinese made junk. I've only seen those on vacation trips anyway. I guess now they will ruin Sportsman's. Which is 5 minutes down the street......Aarrrgghh! Last edited by bearcatter; 12-23-2020 at 05:25 PM. |

I was in a Bass Pro one time. The one in Myrtle Beach. I walked in and walked out with nothing. The Sportsman's Warehouse, my personal favorite, has a unique store. If they turn it in to a typical Bass Pro, I agree, they will ruin it. That will be 2 "lost" in this area. I used to like the old Gander Mountain. I won't set foot in it now. |

I sent 'em this Friday: " Just learned about the sale to Bass Pro. Tell me it ain't so. Bluntly, they suck. They bought Cabela's and ruined it. Don't let them ruin Sportsman's. I have only visited Bass Pro and Cabela's on vacation trips. Awful selection and service. Their store brands are Chinese junk. I have felt fortunate that Sportsman's Warehouse is five minutes from my home. They are far and away the best sporting store, especially supporting my interest in firearms. I guess you have to add some things, but please don't remove anything that's there now. I'd like to stay a loyal customer. " They sent me this back today: " So you've heard the news! Sportsman's Warehouse has entered a definitive agreement to join the Great American Outdoors Group, the parent company of Bass Pro Shops, Cabela’s, White River Marine Group, and a collection of nature-based resorts. This merger is not scheduled to take place until the middle of 2021 and we were still receiving more information along the way. What this means for our customers in the future: •Widely expanded product offerings including •Sportsman’s Warehouse customers will enjoy The Great American Outdoors Group “Low Price Guarantee” •Greater convenience and expanded online services and selection •Receiving the best products faster •Maintaining a strong commitment to a regional and seasonal focus The mission of the Great American Outdoors Group is to inspire everyone to enjoy, love, and conserve the outdoors. Thank you for being a valued customer of Sportsman's Warehouse Sincerely, Sportsman's Warehouse Customer Support " Obviously a form letter........... ![]() |

Right, I'll believe the good things when I see it. In the meantime, I don't have much hope. |
