That is the 1st time I have ever hear or seen a BP pistol in a Encore ...... Do you know the barrel rate of twist . The twist will tell you if it is set up for sabot , slug or round ball .

A great many shooters have also switched over to Blackhorn 209 as a black powder substitute because it burns cleaner. No need to swab the bore between shots and it cleans up with regular bore solvents. No need to go the hot, soapy water route after a day of shooting. In my rifle, 100 grains of BH209 will give me roughly 1900- 2000 fps with the 250-300 grain sabots I will be using. That's a moderate load, but obviously no slouch in the energy department. A 120 grain load will push that up to 2200 fps. Compare it to my Marlin 444 rifle shooting a 265 grain bullet in the 2200 fps. Obviously, you can load these Encores to shoot elk and moose and a lot of Encore shooters use them for that very purpose. In the pistol, though, I will keep things on the milder side, starting at 80 grains and working up from there. The beauty of sabots is that with the right sabot collar, I can shoot 40 cal, 44 mag, 45 Colt pistol bullets and so on, too. Just a matter of using the right collar. My 50 cal flint gun I built has a 36" barrel with 1 in 66 or 72 I forget which it is and will handle 170 gr of 3F which will push a 180 gr patched round ball to 2350 FPS . I only shoot 110 gr of 2F which shoot a 180 RB to 2050 FPS . The 2F is easier on the shoulder . If I use the TC bore cleaner for patch lube I can shoot all day without cleaning bore between shots and I only shoot real black powder . The patch drys out in a hour using TC bore cleaner so it not good for hunting . I use 103 patch lube for hunting . ![]() |

You asked for it. This ought to keep you talking for a while. All targets are one hand un-supported. Most all were in competition. |

She was feeling cocky one year when we went to Friendship and she had me make a "T" shirt with her 100 7x on it she had shot and it said only two words. "You Wish" Oh, she has won the Women's National Pistol Championship ten times now, and is the current winner. She has also won the men's national Flint Agg. As well.
