Hi, All- The newest guy here, will pop up to introduce myself after I post this. I used to shoot black powder in the early '70's- and was on a Navy pistol team as well... but had to sell all my guns when I got transferred to Bermuda. Just got back into shooting last year, and Black Powder this year- and have scored a few nice pistols. Best score was last night, though- I have wanted a Yazel in-line target pistol ever since I discovered their existence a few months ago, tried contacting a few people, but it seems the only to get something like this is at the meets at Friendship, Indiana- and the prospects of me getting there in the near future are slim- and none! So I kind of put it out of my mind, and figured that my T/C Patriot and FWB No, 1 underhammer would have to do. Until last night- when I was searching on the S&W forum for a Model 14 .38 special gun for shooting wadcutters out of. Yes, old Bullseye shooters never die! ![]() Guess what I found in the S&W classifieds???? A near-mint Yazel! It is now spoken for, of course- took me about 5 seconds to make that decision!! Looking forward to getting it! Coming from the original owner, who rarely shot it- and took very good care of it. Hope to enjoy this forum, which I discovered googling Yazel pistols! Great picture! I was not familiar with those so I had no idea what they looked like. We have a number of black powder shooters here and some competitive shooters as well. I think you may have found the right spot if you like small friendly groups, especially small friendly groups of opinionated old codgers and codgerettes! ![]() |

Welcome, MarTay. Glad to have you with us. I am dying to hear more about that pistol. Right, now, the only muzzleloading pistol I have is an Encore 209x50 which I will be shooting for the first time, soon. I suspect it's a monster compared to that one, though. |

Thanks all for the welcome here! Seems like both an active and friendly batch of folks! Tx Gun Runner- I figgered' you'd pop in here- see you're very active on here!! Nice gun... I saw pic's of it in some of your other posts. I like unique things, yours certainly is! When I used to shoot B/P, in the early '70's, the Hopkins & Allen underhammers were availabye.... I thought them so odd... now- less so- and when I saw the European versions, I really fell in lust with them... until I had to have one myself! They're hard to come by here in the states- they want like $600 to ship one over here, or in bulk quantity only... so I felt very fortunate when I found one at a dealer here in the US... oddly enough, one who specializes in air rifles!! So this will give me 3 single shot pistols now- along with my T/C Patriot.... looking forward to shooting them!! Having to wait until I get settled in Maine, too busy now trying to get my house ready to sell. Putting it on the market in June, fortunately already have a couple of buyers interested- so hoping it'll sell quickly without a realtor... and can just go to a real estate lawyer to make it happen. Nice looking yazel! What caliber? Have you found a flinter and a revolver yet? Personally I shoot a pair of Yazel's and love em'! I got a .36 cal caplock and an older .45 cal flint. My revolver is one Rob Lewis worked up for the previous owner long ago. Very nice set. I hope to meet you on the firing line in a few weeks at the Nationals!

Welcome from Kansas. Interesting BP pistol you have; I have a few PB handguns but have never seen or heard of a Yazel.

Yazel pistols were made by Harold Yazel of Indiana until last year or so. He will no longer be making them from what I was told by his son. Many were built and sold to competitive shooters on the friendship firing lines. He made flintlocks and inline percussion models of various calibers. Very fine work and reliable design is what I've come to find with mine.
