Black powder guns are not Firearms by Federal law and most states . So all the revolvers below are not firearms . I made and carried the 31 Remy since 1968 when my I could not carry my CCW gun . Check all state and federal laws before carrying . Bp is not corrosive until it is fire so you can leave it loaded in a gun for 200 years and there is no shelf either on the powder. . ![]() 2 of these guns below are BP gun and I can carry in a Gun Free zone . Only the 22 LR NAA is not legal in GFZ .... ![]() The pic below is to compare the size of the 31 Remy to a "J" frame S&W . Remember the 31 Remy is compared to 32 ACP fps and lbs energy , so it not a 44 mag . PS ..... All Remy SA are designed to carry all chamber loaded safely where that all Colt hammer must be on a empty chamber . . ![]() Last edited by tx gun runner; 02-12-2016 at 12:08 PM. |

I have been tempted to buy a BP gun. The problem is the range I shoot at does not allow it. (indoor) I will have to wait till I find an outdoor range in a reasonable distance or buy a piece of land I can shoot on.

Your 642 or the LCP are not legal in a GFZ and you could lose you gun and licence and if Federal building some jail time too .

I don't think I'd like the hassle and mess of a BP gun. If I could, I'd like a Remington 1863 New Model Police, five shot, .36 caliber. Many of these were converted to .32 rimfire. You can see where Bill Ruger got his inspiration for the Bearcat. ![]() |

I found this comparison on Gunblast.com. Bearcat at top, Remington New Police at bottom, but it has a 3.5 inch barrel. Inch shorter than the other one posted. ![]() |

Here's a real purty Remington, if you have $ 9500 to spare...... ![]() http://www.collectorsfirearms.com/ex...police-ah3751/ Cabela's in Scarborough ME has one converted to .22LR for $ 850. I have to wonder, Why? http://www.cabelas.com/product/gun-l...dsPerPage%3D40 |

Been to Scarborough store a couple of times. Not a large store by Cabelas standards but the prices aren't small. They put a Bass Pro in Hooksett which is under 40 miles and no sales tax in NH. My guess on the conversion is the BBL was pitted badly or buldged so they put on a new one and figured they convert if they had to do that. |

The minute your convert a BP gun to take cartridge it become a modern firearm and all modern firearm laws apply and can't be used in GFZ .
