Morning all! Got my appointment this afternoon to get my ccw here in Florida. Going to go to the Dept of Agriculture office and do it there, just so I don't have any issues. Plus, I think I'll come out cheaper to have them take my prints and picture than I would driving all over hell's half acre trying to do it on my own. I'll keep everyone up to date on the time it takes to roll through. |

Florida is a good state. I have one in my native Washington State and one from Arizona. I had one from Minnesota but let it expire.

My only issue with filling it out myself, is that for electronic fingerprinting, I have to drive about an hour either way and pay the fee for it at the police station, Then drive and get my pic and pay for it. It's just a one stop shop for my lazy butt. Being ex-military, I don't have to take any class, but I plan on auditing my wife's when she goes for her's. The wait has gone down substantially on getting an appointment. I made the call to get the appointment just about a month ago. |

Man, in and out in 20 minutes. Digital fingerprints, so no issues down the line with those. People there told me that they are running at about 3-4 weeks now instead of the full 90

All you people be dam happy you didn't need a CWP in Michigan but in Michigan it's done by which county you live in. And some county like mine Kent county thinks no one should have a permit at all so they drag the whole process out as long as possible most people here wait 10-12 weeks and some are denied for no reason at all. First you need a class for 8 hour and the proof you took the class at $95.00 Then a passport grade photo--$10.00 Then you take the photo, the class proof and $100.00 to the county clerks office Then you go to the Police station to be finger printed Then you wait even my last renewal took 8 weeks And no ever let it expire or the whole process has to be repeated. |

My Walmart is 5 minutes away. My police station is 10 minutes away. The photo was $5 or less. The digital finger printing was $10. I think, to send the info in was $65. I can't remember, but I think that's what it was. I could have gone to the Dept. of Ag and had everything done there BUT it was a 3 month wait and I think they charged $110 which included the photo and finger printing. It was a very easy decision for us last year to do the paperwork ourselves. PS The class, as I mentioned, was $35 and taught by our police department. |

In Wisconsin, we had to attend a two or three hour class that was fairly lame, fill out the paperwork, pay the fee and wait. Not much to it.

Congrats on your permit. In Missouri you take the 8 hour class, having to show proficiency with a revolver & a semi-auto. Then you go to your county police dept. for prints & background check. It took 3 weeks & then to DMV for an ID card. They recommend here to get a seperate ID & not put it on your drivers lisense. Missouri shows reprocity(?) with I believe 38 states. I'm not sure about IL, I don't know what they are doing. |

Washington State was the first state to pass a "must issue" law. And they set a law on how long it can take. If the state wants to take longer they have to go before a judge and give the reasons. Here the county in which you live issues the license.
