or LUCK becomes the main determinant of the outcome. I've been a life member of NRA since 1978. I always read the "armed citizen" column, with a dozen or more cases wherein citizens used a gun to stop a criminal. Now, the NRA aint going to be publishing many (if any) cases where the gun person messed up, right? Yet I can count on my fingers the cases where they didn't survive mostly by luck. They got LUCKY and the criminals didn't have guns, in most cases. Obviously, any punk can cough up $60 and have a Raven .25, Jiminez 380, Phoenix Arms Jennings .22. They can pay $150 or so and have a Ruger .22 auto, too (stolen). So any time you are facing an attacker who doesn't even have a gun, it was pure LUCK.
Other things that people screw up on is they just step around a corner, into what they KNOW is a violent confrontation! now why would you do that, instead of going prone on your side of the door, and just "rolling out" enough to point your gun at the offender, hmm? Why give him all that "extra" time, warning and huge target to shoot at? If you weren't WEARING the gun, only LUCK let you get to it in time. Most stuff startes suddenly or by stealth or subterfuge, So there is no reason to "think" that you're going to have 5-10 seconds to "go get" anything.
