I didn't think I was that hard to get along with and I have no problem with Christianity, I used to stand up for Natalie when Johngoboom would bully her about her Catholic faith. I don't spit on anyone's faith but I will not have anyone's religion or their bigotry pushed on me. I don't submit well.

Sorry.

I don't shoot my carry firearm near as much as I should. Maybe I'll shoot it tomorrow.

Every month I rotate my carry and my house gun mags and put fresh ammo in mags . The next time I go to range I shoot the old stuff up .

I seldom shoot my defense ammo because it is so expensive.

Well said sir.

And in keeping with the OP I shoot my carry gun about once a month. I will shoot round nose for 50 rounds or so then a magazine of my carry ammo.

After carrying ammo for 2 months and going from the house to outside and then back into house again I don't trust it with the temperature swing the ammo is subject to , The Winchester ammo in 40 S&W FBI 180 Hp loads only cost me under $200 delivered to my door for 500 rds and that will last me 20 months . If you change the ammo in 2 mags every month and 1 in pipe on my Glock 23C is 25rds . That is a box 50rds last 2 months and only cost me $10 a month to keep fresh ammo in my gun . And the next time I go to range I shoot them like I did on this target .

I agree that carrying ammo is hard on it. I do rotate mine, though not as often. I put the old rounds in marked boxes and shoot it on the next range trip. If I ever have a failure then I know I am not changing it often enough but I have only had a problem with rimfire ammo that I carried for my Beretta 21. That is one reason I don't carry a .22 rimfire for defense.

I have had some Cor-bon ammo that took two strikes to fire but it was some old ammo that someone gave me. He did not know what conditions it was stored in so I would not count on it in any case.

That 22 ammo I sold you was I got in 10,000 round lots and I stored in metal ammo boxes since the 70's and 80's and never had one one miss fire . If you ever have a problem with it let me know . I shot 500 rounds that day I got the gun to test for leading . I shot 12 rounds on target with a clean gun and saved 12 rounds to fire after I shot the brick up to see if it leaded up and if the gun stayed accurate . A wet patch and a dry one was all I need to clean bore . I have NEVER run a brush in bore since I owned the gun in 5 yrs . I only shoot steel with this gun it matches my 38 Cimarron I use to shoot SASS/CAS ..

The ammo has been fine. I have other ammo from the 1980s and it's been fine but it was stored properly. The ammo I had trouble with was carried on my person. The bullets tended to loosen in the case and they sometimes did not fire. I have never had the same problem with centerfire ammo in comparable time periods. I am glad to have the ammo and have confidence in it.

I practice a lot, but the carry gun is rarely fired. I dont want the fouling and wear to go on the "duty" piece, so I have a practice-spare" just like it. I also use a laserlyte device and Airsoft for training,

What matters is what you can do, not how recently you fired, how many rds you fired, etc., Can you, from a discrete starting position, react to the timer's beep, draw and put a bullet into each of 2 10" disks, at varied heights and distances apart, at 10 ft or so, in 1 second flat? That's what matters. It's actually pretty easy to do this, if you start with your hand on the gun, in a front pants pocket holster.

All the professionals I know stake their life on an untested and unproven gun while practicing with something else. Being the ignorant tenderfoot I am I like having plenty of experience with the piece I carry..

Of course, I shoot a 1911 without most of the essentials a mall ninja insists on. It seems to work just fine.

Post... #47 on this thread is the way I do it with only one change . I got a Lone Wolf barrel since that post to shoot cast bullet in my 2 Glocks safely and for cheap practice . Since both the cast and jacket have the same POI is not a problem . So I still swap my ammo like #47 with stock barrel but hone my skills with LW barrel and cast bullets . You can't wear a Glock out , they run over 100,000 rds easy without any problems . I've never had a Glock ever fail to feed they never jam or miss fire , in the 20 yrs of shoot them .

I'm going to shoot my CC 4" Kimber until I get it broke in.
It is too stiff as it is.
I could wish for other things to be like that.

I shoot my actual carry gun as often as I can. that being said.....not at all in the winter. no indoor ranges around here allow more than .22's. the other 3 seasons....I shoot it plenty & enough to be very comfortable with my no frills 1911. I can "work it" in the dark as well as the light. been shooting 1911's since the early 70's and see no reason to change now....hahaha

so "rarely fired" means NEVER fired, to some nitwits, right? I suppose you "think' that if you don't practice with THAT glock, you can't POSSIBLY be any good with it, right? My two keltecs are SO different, that makes a lot of sense.

I've seen your "professional" cops and troops at IPSC matches and nearly all of them post right at the bottom of the rankings, and NEVER come back, cause they aint gonna work at it hard enough to get any better and they can't stand seeing the women outshoot them. I bet 90% of the posters here, and all of the readers, can't post scores in the top half of any realistic match, much less handle real combat stress.

I got a .22 Rohm stuck in my face once, and as I searched in my car (it was night and I was camped out) for my wallet, he fired a shot up over my head. . I didn't even twitch. I almost jumped him, cause I was pretty sure it was a blank gun. the next day, tho, I found a bullet hole in the hatchback cover of my mini-van. I was out of state, and my .45 was hidden in the car, , or him and his getaway driver would be dead men.

Ever worn the attack suit and had 2 attack dogs sicced on you? As a kid, I shot 2 dogs in the head, one shot each, with .22's at they tried to kill me. I had shot them, (different times, 1 dog each) because they had killed one of my bosse's high dollar purebred breeding gilts, and he told me to get rid of them. I've felt much more stress at the matches than I did in those encounters. I've pointed a gun at men 5x in my life. They froze in their tracks and I remember thinking that the jitters that I got later were a lot more about the legal ramifications than the fact that I had been attacked and almost killed men.

Jim Cirillo and many others are on record as saying that matches stressed them more than shootouts. If you haven't done well at some high level IDPA or IPSC, I invite you to TRY it and find out for yourself.

Right! Col. Cooper told me, "Mac, you just can't understand the true stress of combat and battle until you've done airsoft!"
