Colt Lawman MK III

Well......i got another project. Traded ammo to an officer and received this old snub Lawman in return........and i can understand why he said he did not shoot her much....

and i am still trying to figure out who got the better deal..........

actually, we sort of trade back and forth over the years.....he gets tired of one and will either sell or trade it off to me and so forth. We are always hollering at each other asking what we got to trade....

Anyways, here she is........

[IMG][/IMG]

an old Colt Lawman 357 snub. Grips don't fit right and someone did a kitchen table de-horn job on her.
[IMG][/IMG]

i took her out and ran some 38's and the trigger is quite rough. She stacks real heavy on the pull.

i popped the handles off and this is the coil spring set-up....noticed plenty of tool marks.

I like snubs....and i can certainly use a six shot snub. Though with this size frame she is rather large and heavy. I will pop the side plate in the future just to examine the guts and give her a good cleaning. The springs are going to have to be addressed.....perhaps a spring kit. She needs something to over-come that gritty pull and excessive stacking. Just afraid of how many tool marks i am going to find inside that might need smoothing out.....

Still.......don't see a Lawman snub every day. Seen plenty of 4" ones before.

knowing my bud, he is probably thinking i will work on her and get her right and then trade her back.....he's probably right as he will surely come up with another treasure that i will just have to have........

he does have a Beretta model 418 that for some reason speaks to me......i told him he had best holler at me first before he trades that one off.......

Numerica has a hammer for the Trooper MKIII if you want to spring for $40. I like he old Colts, just a shame Bubba got ahold of it.

Zeno doubt you will clean her up and make a deal trading it back. I enjoy looking through the older guns in shops to see what may just need a little TLC.

Interesting find. I like the older Colts but the ones with sintered parts worry me. The Lawman always looked interesting, though I always saw them with 4" barrels. I don't know if much can be done for the action with those parts. Too bad because it would be an interesting gun to handle.

Laughing at the Beretta. Guess that would be your holster gun for the little one to back up?

.........never gave it that much thought.....just every once in a while lighting will strike and logic flies out the window when looking at guns. But the Beretta would be the holster gun compared to my Baby Browning.....

The "james bond" Beretta......i sat in his living room and must have fondled it for 20 minutes while we discussed the merits of this model 418 compared to the beretta 950 and the Astra Cub.....then a lengthy discussion about 22 short vs 25 acp....we agreed to disagree on that one.......and then we finally ended in agreement that Q was correct in choosing the PPK in 32 acp instead of the 380..........

Well, as always I prefer an external hammer but after having a Beretta 21 in .22 LR for a while I decided I would never have another gun without an extractor so the tip up barrels are out. I guess I'm just fussy.

I do understand lightening. I can't justify most of my picks without some Texas stretching but I do like them and that is enough. I really have no need for the Walther PK380 but I just liked the idea of a bigger .380 to compliment the Ruger LCP and to match my Walther P22.

Toys, I gots um.
