Early model 15 or 15-1 with the old pork chop shroud that extends down the front of the frame where the shroud interfaces with the revolver frame. An early 70s gun. With the 15-2, the shrouds did not have that leg at the back where the shroud meets the frame. Here's our 1979 vintage 15-2. Outshoots any S&W 357 I've ever owned.

Hogue makes grips for small frame Dan Wesson revolvers. Can't you order them down under?

Terry is right on the small frame size for the 15, so just make sure you get small frame DW grips. He's also right on the Pachmayr grips. I have rubber grips on my new production 715 (the stainless version of the 15) and they really do make a difference with the felt recoil over the wood grips on my vintage 15-2. Both of my guns have the full, heavy shroud, which also helps tame recoil. On your half shroud, DW, rubber grips might not look as good, but may make it softer to shoot.

Thanks for your help the reason I asked about factory grips is I purchased it without grip sight unseen and the gun shop described it as a model 42050. Hogue grips are available here but up until now I wasn't sure the model 15 was a small frame . Information about Dan Wesson grips is a bit scarce on the ground.Iam looking at some model 15 original timber grips to start with. Thanks again

One of these would dress that up nicely:
