Polishing

When folks talk about "polishing the slide rail" for smoother cycling what is this process, and can it be done by myself? My Rail on the RIA is a bit tough to rack back than most guns. What is the BEST slide lube?

I just use break free or whatever I happen to have at the time of cleaning. Work the slide a lot. It'll loosen up. Mine all did. You could put some jewelers rouge, I think it is, in the grooves and then work it. Should polish it right up. You can also use Flitz.

be careful polishing...........you can't put the metal back on. might i suggest flitz and patience.

as far as lube for an auto, for me if it "slides" it gets grease, if it "pivots" it gets oil..........

...might try some Gun Butter before you use an abrasive that might remove finish...
