Ive often heard cleaning fire arms isnt any fun, directors at the range, people who claim to be experts on t.v., but in reality I find cleaning guns lots of fun. Of course not as fun as shooting them, but something I enjoy and sometimes find myself doing as a cure to being bored....we all know wat the Bible says about idle hands.....so what do you think, fun? or something youd rather not wast your time on.

The hardware story was the main place I remember seeing them, they loved to sit talk and clean their guns. The stories that were told there were 100 times better than any iphone ipod/ game boy that has ever been sold. Because there you not only had the smell of hoppies #9 but you got to use your imagination. True the men smoked and chewed and spit we sat next to a pot belly stove. Life was easier then, life in those days was worth living too. Every body worked in those days. |

A good way to relive the hunt or the day at the range.

we can learn alot from old timers ive got great uncles in their late 70s who still have and up to a couple years ago used the guns and tools they used in their teens. Because they clean everything after every time they use it and always put it away well. At one time surviving was accomplished by having a functional weapon which called for daily cleaning and system checks, and if you've always got something with you or in your hand something you use daily to hunt, fend off predator or foe...then it becomes part of you and thats why most people today cant reproduce the shots and skill with a weapon told in the tells of the untamed west and before. Leaving them to be considered legend.

For me it all depends on what I'm cleaning. Enfields are easy as is most bolt actions. But I'll be cursing if I take a 22/45 apart. In general I love just handling weapons. My wife says I fondle them. ![]() |

It depends on how many you shoot on the day.....
