I picked up a Standard Charger yesterday for $261, a box of 325 rounds and an extra 25 round magazine. All totaled, $330 out the door.
Add in a stock from a first generation Charger that I got from TGR and I have exactly what I want: a Charger without a plastic pistol grip.
Nice thing is that I can change it if I want to, but not likely to happen. now I just need some snow to melt and to get my red-dot sighted in and then I can see what I can do with it.
That is the case that came with mine. It may be different for the TD. I just like the all wood stock, not that I hate the plastic, just prefer the all wood.
I hope to see a range report soon also, but first I need the 6 inches of snow that we got on Friday to melt and also the 4 to 10 inches that is predicted to fall between now and Tuesday to melt first. I may need to consider an new membership at an indoor range.
You are making it hard for me to not get one.
I like the fore end on the new one better, I'm not sure about the grip. I think I would have to shoot both styles before ruling one out. You have the best of both worlds. I think I remember NCG mentioning in a post that she did some wood work on her grip to fit her hand better.
RS, I too see some sandpaper in my future. It is really think up front, but back aft, it isn't that bad for me, but when I start to sand, who knows where I will finish.
The nice thing is that I have two stocks so that while I am working one one, I can still shoot with the other.
I love the stock I sold you 10X better then the stock one . I never thought I have the original zipper case and a Tru-Glo red & green dot which was mounted but never shot it .
I'm with you Brian, much prefer the original Charger stock.
Before I modded up my original Charger, it would do about an inch at 50 yards with most ammo. That's not bad for what is basically a 1022 and a pistol, at that. After I aded a Kidd 10" bull barrel and other mods, I got down to half inch and less on a regular basis. Probably should have kept the gun - never got my money back on the add ons and the mods - but another gun came along and ... you know how that goes.
As for that original Charger case, pretty flimsy. Didn't even have a handle for carrying purposes. Ruger didn't exactly go all out on that accessory.
I've only shot for small groups a short while and mostly because of you. In the past I was more of a plinker
