As for rests, I actually prefer the homemade wooden rests like 303 made with good sandbags over the fancy metal fully adjustable rests. Have had light guns bounce on me and hit a metal rest and suffer a nasty gouge or ding in the stock. Not something you want to have happen with the Ebony.

I would never consider a "rest" that holds the gun for me. It might as well pull the trigger too. The only reason I use a rest is I'm a little shaky. Mostly from the lack of practicing free hand probably. I might make one like 303's, but, at least with my 10/22's, I find the Tack Driver works very well, as I can position it many ways, varying the height, depending on what chair I bring and the height of the table.

I was just coming back here to see what scope you have on yours, so I can look for something similar, and saw your response.

Not too many gloss scopes made, anymore, so was happy to get the Leupold. I do think the Nikons are betters scopes in terms of optics for the dollars, but the gloss Leupold does look nice on the Ebony.

I was looking and didn't see any gloss made by Nikon. Amazon has an older Buckmaster on sale, as it's being replaced by a 2015 model. Only 1 left in stock which I don't like, and the fact it isn't sold directly. Still, it looks like a good deal.

Below is a link of something I came across. It appears all CZ 223 can chamber and shoot 556's also. Check out the second question in the link below.

Yes, they can shoot 5.56 ammo, but never had any interest in doing so, though nice to know just in case.

I haven't seen a gloss Nikon scope for a long time. The Buckmaster scopes are on their way out. They're dropping the whole line. Pretty much duplicate what the Promaster scopes do, anyway.

I think I've decided on the scope for my Ebony. A Nikon Prostaff 4-12 X 40 model 6729. Runnerup is a Nikon Prostaff 5, 2.5-10 X 40 model 6736. It's about $80 more than the first one. I'm tracking both with The Tractor. The Prostaff 5 has been below $220, but it jumped up a couple of weeks ago. If it drops down again, I'll have to consider it. Either way, I'm not rushing into this one, like I usually do. Links below.

Either one would be a good choice. I like the first one because its a higher power.

Yes, I was all set to order it, as it's not going to get much cheaper. I guess I will later tonight.
