Brasslite Receiver Covers

I have three Henrys with brasslite receiver covers. The Golden Boy came that way and I bought two covers for the H001 series. I also have two custom large loops on two of these.

Here is a closeup of one of the covers and large loops.

I think if I had to pick, I'd go with the brasslite, too, over a painted cover. How does the brasslite hold up compared to the painted?

The paint chips off the painted ones very easy. Its one of the biggest complaints about Henrys. The brasslite scratches easy but you tend to baby it more. I've antiqued the finish on most of my painted covers. I'm going to try to cold blue one next.

Cold or even hot blue only works on carbon steel to any great extent. How much of that is in those covers?

I think there is zero steel in the covers. Cold blue works but with spotted results.

Henry's finish, and originally the plastic sights, have kept me less interested. I understand the Brasslite receiver covers are brass anodized Zamac. Supposedly the name comes from it being an alloy of zinc, aluminum, magnesium and copper. If they had an actual solid brass receiver cover available, I might consider one. It wouldn't be that difficult or expensive to do.

I'd love to have a lever to go with my Bearcats, preferably stainless to match, but that's not going to happen. The only one has been the Taurus 62, discontinued, not very good and too expensive now.

I have an older H001 with the plastic sights and barrel band. They seem just like new. I bet a real steel receiver cover would add a lot more expense to the rifle than most think.

There is some action covers on RimfireCentral that guys stripped the black off and used cold blue and I believe some kind of jewelry cleaner and came out with a kind of case colored look. They were different and actually looked nice.
