No, definitely not. Just the opposite, in fact. Overall, deer numbers have been down for several years in our north woods after we had a record hard winter, three years, ago and the population really hasn't shown much improvement, since, despite the last two very mild winters. To make matters worse, CWD has now been reported in the area for the first time, so hard to say what things will be like this fall. Has a lot of locals worried. The tradition of folks heading up here to hunt deer in the north woods is big business. A lot of those hunters that live to the south in farm country are finding more deer closer to home. As for our neighborhood, mostly a just a matter of no one hunting deer in our neighborhood and they're not as exposed to predators as deer in more remote areas with all the people about.
