Had this Weatherby SA-08 28 Gauge come into the Gun Shop I work at part time. And I be damm!! It followed me home. It came in at a very deep discount price due to the fact that it is deemed a "blem gun". I looked it over and can not see a thing wrong. Had it out at the Skeet Range today and it is a joy to shoot. Looking forward to trying it out on a few ducks this Fall with Heavy Metal Shells.l. |

I thought I was going to see a cute puppy........ ![]() That is a pretty nice stray you found. Weatherby always has great looking guns. I'm not a shotgun guy, but I know 28 gauge is a less common size. Hard to get shells short notice? That would be a nice easy size for house protection, too. |

You are right about finding 28 gauge shells. You won't find them at Walmart, Dunhams and such. Most true Gun Shops will have them. Target loads are about $10 a box. I just ordered a case for my own use. I will order a few Heavy Metal rounds for hunting Waterfowl from Mac's online. $3.00 a shell. Lead hunting loads are around $18.00 a box.

Cigar: Sounds like a good time to invest in a MEC loader and roll your own shells. If you get one that goes both ways for steel and lead loads then you can save the cost of it fairly quickly depending on how much you shoot. I have a sizemaster for 12 gauge 3 1/2" shells (will handle 3" or 2 3/4") and when I was waterfowling that is what I used. I also loaded skeet loads. Congrats on the new shotgun that is a real looker. |
